I am a native San Franciscan, who didn't care about cooking until my 20's. My Nicaraguan mother did almost all the cooking. My daddy from Memphis brought another flavor to the house. So I was raised american with latin influences surrounded by the glorious culinary mix of San Francisco.
My favorite things to cook
Red meat! Be it beef or lamb I enjoy my protein.
I love trying different marinades especially with chicken
Sometimes we eat so much chicken we start looking for feathers. Its amazing how a great marinade can transport a dish
fresh vegetables have spoiled me. We merely have to steam our wonderful to broccoli, asparagus, artichokes and brussell sprouts! Indeed to mention a few.
I love making eggplant parmigiana, always worth the work
My favorite family cooking traditions
Small red beans soaked over night and simmered a couple of hours with nothing but sea salt, and the potato that gets taken out. I believe its to absorb gas. I dunno I just always do it.
My cooking triumphs
Paella! Worth the work &then praises later!
Cerviche. Pricey to make &I tons of chopping. So so worth it.
Meatloaf I'll put my turkey/ beef meatloaf against anybodies.
Lasagna. I love to make it. I love to serve it.
Chicken soup. Homemade chicken soup. Need I say more?
My cooking tragedies
I can bake a real lopsided cake. No amount of frosting can save it.
I once spent a fortune &I made gooey scampi
Such a waste!
I can't fry a chicken. Really
