Pizza Mac Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2013
Very quick and easy. I used Angie Gorkoff's "Exquisite Pizza Sauce" for this recipe as it adds so much flavour. Don't be afraid to add in some extra veggies for a filling casserole.

German Beef Rouladen

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
So very very good! I saw some negative reviews on how this isn't the proper German way to cook Rouladen. However, my Oma (whom is Mennonite so maybe there are cultural differences to the dish) always made hers very similar to this. I didn't stuff them with pickles, but I did use large olives stuffed with garlic and it was so tasty. Also, I used meat that was already cut and prepared for Rouladen at our local grocery store. This recipe is a keeper!

Maple Pumpkin Cheesecake

This was pretty good except I think I needed to roast the pecans first to get the perfect flavour. The end results really do look like this was professionally made!

German Apple-Onion Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
The only way this could be better is if I baked it in French Onion Soup dishes with swiss cheese on top. Very delicous!

Butternut Squash and Turnip Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
I love this recipe! I have made it once with squash and once with sweet potato and both times the recipe turned out lovely. I'm always trying to find ways to use turnips and this is a keeper. My only suggestion is to try pureeing this once the veggies are soft as it blends all of the wonderful flavours together. Thank you!

French Canadian Tourtiere

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
Yumm! I will be making this again very soon! This is perfect with some homemade gravy. My suggestion is to scale back on the salt and add a bit of cinnamon to enhance the flavour. Thank you for the recipe!

Tofu Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
I really enjoyed this, however I can't give it five stars as I made too many of my own adjustments so I can't really say how the original recipe would have turned out. I made my own pasta sauce with about 4 garlic cloves and I used 3 cups of sauce. I used just a dash of the nutmeg on the tofu as I was not sure how I felt about it in the recipe. I made up for it by adding rosemary, oregano and basil to the mixture and instead of mozza I used cheddar as that was all I had on hand. I also sautéed some zucchini, onions and green pepper and added them to each layer as I though this recipe could use a few veggies. I would suggest making a tent with tin foil over the pan and bake for 15 - 20 minutes and then remove and bake for a remaining 10 minutes so that the top gets nice and brown. I will definitely make this again and again as it is a wonderful change from the same ol' tofu recipes.

Marinade for Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
I did enjoy this recipe for the most part. However, next time I think I will leave out the lemon juice as I found the red wine vinegar flavour was masked and I all I could taste was lemon.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Not that this recipe needs more reviews but I figured I should leave one since I am always making this pizza sauce. I love it so much! Whenever I make it I always find myself having a few spoonfuls on the side because it is so tasty. Thank you!

Creamed Peas

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
This recipe is pretty much what my mom used to make for us. I will make this again and again but the only think I think I will do differently is add less sugar or none at all as I find the peas make it sweet enough. TFTR!

African Sweet Potato and Peanut Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
Yum! I love peanut soup and this was just what I was looking for. I used chicken broth instead of water as I don't like making my soups with water and I added a little bit of curry powder.

Spicy African Yam Soup

This was very good. I decided to puree the soup prior to adding the rice and salsa, though next time I do not think I would add the rice as I don't think it added much to the soup.

Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2011
Oh my goodness! So amazing! My boyfriend asks for this so often. I've made it for my friends and family a few times and everyone loves it. I boil the tortellini separately and add it to the bowls before I add the soup. This way when there are leftovers the tortellini doesn't absorb all of the sauce. Also, I usually use chicken broth instead of beef. Thank you for a great recipe!
