Ultimate Chocolate Dessert

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2012
Please help me. Mine was in the fridge for over eight hours and did not set up one bit. I followed the recipe and instructions to the T, I even watched the tutorial video. I was really crushed when I went to serve this to my husband for an early Fathers Day treat.

Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2012
My family really liked this recipe. The only thing I changed was subbing sour cream for ricotta or cottage cheese since I cant stand either. When it cooks the sour cream kinda takes on the same texture.

Crispy Pork Cutlets

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2012
Ive made this recipe over a dozen times now. I cant find the words to say how awesome it is! I dont have a meat tenderizer thing so I snagged my my mother-in-laws tiny cast iron skillet and use that. Its heavy and smooth on the bottom so it dosnt tear up the meat while thinning it out.

Polish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2011
I really like how the dumplings turn out. I never get to make the broth the same way twice though because my family uses this as a one of those "in a pinch" recipes when we really really need to go shopping.

Bistec Encebollao

Thank you thank you thank you for posting this. I lived with my ex in Puerto Rico for a year and this was one of my favorite dishes. However not speaking spanish and having no idea how to pronounce the dish people looked at me like I was crazy while trying to remember how to make it..... By the way, how is it pronounced?

Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2012
These are amazing. I got tired of rolling so the last few I kept pretty thick, about the thickness of a nickle They still cooked up nice on a griddle and were like flat bread. I slathered each with homemade hummus and roasted veggies. This was a huge hit with my 7yr old who has never tried either homemade tortillas or hummus.

Scottish Shortbread IV

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2012
My family really enjoyed this recipe and it was fun to make since it was hands on compared to the "drop" cookies I usually make. I think its only fair to state though for people just starting out that this cookie does not get firm in the oven. It will firm up as it cools but in the oven it still feels "raw" even when burnt to a dark chocolate brown thanks to the hubby distracting you and making you forget about the last tray. lol. Thanks for sharing!

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
This is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing. I tried it out on my own the first time, but its so easy I cant wait to get my little girl to help. We are always wanting something sweet but money keeps us from buying junk food. This in mini-cupcake form is perfect!!!

Chef John's Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2012
The taste was awesome. I had an issue with them being to flaky to roll up for burritos like my original plan was, but I believe that is due to "cooks" error not the recipe. I dont have a tortilla press (but I may invest in one come Christmas) and I may have just rolled them to thin. However, to thin the made awesome flat breads for scooping lol!

Sour Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
This turns out really thin and is more of a glaze, but oh god does it taste good. Ive not messed around with it other than what it calls for here and I don't think I will.

Kangaroo Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
I used different seasonings, frozen corn, and chunks of celery instead of potatoes because most of the reviews said that the cooking time was to short to soften them properly. This couldn't be more true. The celery was still very crunchy, and even my onions were borderline raw. All and all a good idea, but needs more cooking time.

Fusion Hummus

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2012
I skipped the rosemary by accident and only used 2 tbs balsamic vinegar to a double batch, plus I used the juice from cooking the garbanzos instead of water and it was amazing. I slow cooked dried garbanzos instead of using the can that way I could control the texture and the amount of sodium a bit better. This was exactly what I was looking for thank you so much!

No Knead Beer Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2012
Ive made this bread four times now and each time I swear it gets better. My family participates in Amtgard every Sunday and its nice to take a loaf out there to snack on because it looks "period correct" to our characters, not to mention tastes great. One of my best friends has a daughter who refuses to eat anything and last time I made this she ate 8 pieces. Finally I had to just get her mom over to show her how to make it to stop the begging. lol! Amazing work yet again Chef John!!!

Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2012
Fresh out of the oven now! It smells soo amazing. My 12year old son all but shoved his head in the mixer bowl to clean it out after I put the mix in the loaf pan. The dough is really really thick though so I added about 3 tbs of water to help it work together.

Traditional Pita Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2012
I had the same issue as another cook... mine rose but no pocket. It was more like a hard crusted dinner roll. My family didnt complain but I was looking forward to pitas for falafels. Im pretty sure the issue is completely my own fault considering Im new to bread making and when it said roll into 5 inch circles I rolled it like you would to make a round bread loaf >.
