My favorite flavors tend to be middle eastern. I enjoy cooking Mexican as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
For Christmas Eve, a tourtiere, a French sausage pie. Easter - my husband cooks leg of lamb Thanksgiving - homemade pumpkin pie Valentine's Day - escargot, beef Burgandy, French bread If I am ambitious on any holiday I will make my grandma's rice and pineapple dessert.
My cooking triumphs
Turkey - haven't had any disasters in 20 years. My parents taught me well! Cakes - lemon poppy seed is often requested Beef Burgandy
My cooking tragedies
Turkey cutlets - tried them twice - why are they so thin - overcook so fast it is like trying to chew leather. Baking in my oven in China. Converting Farenheit to Celcius, small oven size. A challenge. The light is automatically on all the time the oven is on - all the tops of cakes burned. After realizing it - there is aluminum foil to cover halfway through cooking time.

Slow Cooker Lemon Garlic Chicken II
This is a family favorite. First time I made it it turned out dry, but I have an unusual crock pot. I have adapted the recipe since my family likes a lot of Mediterranean flavors. I use 1 cup of water, the juice of two large lemons and 3 chicken bouillon cubes. I cook on low for about 4 hours, but I have an unusual purple clay crock pot in China that will boil water on high. Chicken broth would probably be better, but it is expensive overseas. Anyway, we slice this up, make some tzatziki sauce and wrap in pita bread.

Chicken With Mushrooms
Very nice recipe. I have a child that doesn't like cheese, so I leave it off hers. Another doesn't like the mushrooms under the cheese, no problem. I was worried it would be soggy with the broth in the pan, but the flavors were good. Our dog stole a piece off the table and she is not a dog to do that.
