Honey Wheat Bread I

I have made this several times and really am grateful to have found a non-bread machine bread recipe. I use butter instead of shortening and whole milk instead of half-n-half. Thanks so much!

Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits

These biscuits were awesome! I decided to just use all-purpose flour and skipped the whole wheat flour and they came out great. These are going to be the only biscuit I make from now on!

Jimmy's Mexican Pizza

I really enjoyed this a lot and my picky husband did too. I changed it to suit our tastes (skipped the jalapeño and green onions on top b/c of my picky children) and used picante sauce instead of salsa. Still came out muy excellente!

I agree with other reviewers - you need more sauce and less salt. This dish was still excellent though - my hubby and father raved over it! I served it over rice with salad. Yummy!

Baked Oatmeal Squares

This was REALLY good! I told my 3 year old that it was oatmeal cake and wouldn't you know, she loved it! :) I did at 1/2 tsp of cloves and I really like it, although it may be a bit too sophisticated of a taste for my kids. I also subbed 1/2 c of applesauce for the 1/4 c of oil. Yummy. Thanks so much for this recipe!!!!

Kentucky Biscuits

This biscuit recipe is really great! I would give it 4.5 stars as written. The only thing I will change the next time is to add a bit more salt. It seems that using the same amount of salt as baking soda is a good rule of thumb. Otherwise, I love the idea of patting it out on the pan and using a knife to separate them! It kept them from getting tough - they were tender and flaky and delicious! And I love another user's idea of freezing and grating the butter! I didn't have any frozen so I grated it cold. It works, but not as well. After making this, I immediately put two sticks of butter in the freezer so I can have it handy the next time I make biscuits or pancakes. Also, I have been culturing my own buttermilk thanks to an ebay listing and it is phenomenal!

This was really great! It definitely needed the extra liquid. When I reheated this after freezing it I added a cup of Italian breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese (half and half) and one cup of toasted almonds and that made it even better!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

First, I want to say that these are really great. I made a minor change based on some of the reviews. Since I only had salted butter on hand, I decreased the salt to 1/2 tsp and it was perfect. However, please make the following crucial change: medium low instead of medium high heat!!!! I let the batter rest while the griddle was heating up - the result was wonderfully high, fluffy pancakes. HOWEVER, I followed the poster's suggestion of medium high heat and ended up with black outsides and runny insides. Please turn it down and you'll be completely satisfied with this recipe!

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Very good! Thanks to the reviewer who suggested spices mixed in with the crust. Only problem I had was that it didn't stay crisp. Perhaps I'll try to bake it for 5 minutes before topping it and then bake it with toppings next time :).
