VanVoorst Ham Casserole

This was good! I try to make things as written b/c otherwise it's not really fair to the contributor. However, I tasted this before baking it and the mustard flavor was pretty overpowering so I added the rest of the cheese instead of putting it on top, 1/2 - 1 cup of frozen peas (didn't measure) and approx. 1/4 cup of heavy cream to dilute the mustardy flavor. I then put some durkee french fried onions on the top. It came out really great, although I would definitely decrease the mustard next time. With my changes, I'd give it 5 stars but as written, I'd say 4. My only complaint is that the directions do not tell you to bake covered or uncovered. I covered it but it could have been a bit warmer in the middle so maybe uncovered would have been better? Also, next time I might throw in a touch more cheese :).

My Favorite Mexican Rice

This was good but WAAAAAY too salty. I would definitely suggest cutting it down to 1/2 t of salt to start with. You can always add more but it's hard to take it out :). Otherwise though, I really liked it. It cooked up faster than 25 minutes for me, so FYI...stir frequently so it doesn't burn and you can keep an eye on it.

Adrienne's Overnight Barbecued Beef Sandwiches

Adrienne, this is awesome!!!! I tried exactly as written (always do this first time before making changes) and found it to be incredible. It was even better the next day after the meat soaked in the wonderful sauce all night. I plan to do this again and again. Next time I might caramelize the onions first if I have time. Also, I did not have the 10 hours needed so I cooked it on high for 4 hours and then low for 2. The meat wasn't as tender as it probably would have been had I had the whole 10 hours to just cook it on low. Next time, I'll plan ahead. One great thing about your recipe is I had all the ingredients on hand - no special trip to the store needed. Even my picky husband who isn't a huge brisket fan went back for seconds! My mom wanted me to tell you that she loved it too :). Kudos!!!!

Baked Potato Soup IV

I made this in the crockpot because I knew I wouldn't have to cook once my extended family arrived one evening. They loved it. I left out the sour cream and chives, but it was delicious. Thanks!

Baked Pumpkin Bread

I made this as written and it was fine. I followed some other reviewers' suggestions to add more pumpkin and it was better. I used a 15 ounce can of pumpkin instead of one cup. Delicious!

Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits

These biscuits were awesome! I decided to just use all-purpose flour and skipped the whole wheat flour and they came out great. These are going to be the only biscuit I make from now on!

Frosting for German Chocolate Cake

Baked Oatmeal Squares

This was REALLY good! I told my 3 year old that it was oatmeal cake and wouldn't you know, she loved it! :) I did at 1/2 tsp of cloves and I really like it, although it may be a bit too sophisticated of a taste for my kids. I also subbed 1/2 c of applesauce for the 1/4 c of oil. Yummy. Thanks so much for this recipe!!!!

Kentucky Biscuits

This biscuit recipe is really great! I would give it 4.5 stars as written. The only thing I will change the next time is to add a bit more salt. It seems that using the same amount of salt as baking soda is a good rule of thumb. Otherwise, I love the idea of patting it out on the pan and using a knife to separate them! It kept them from getting tough - they were tender and flaky and delicious! And I love another user's idea of freezing and grating the butter! I didn't have any frozen so I grated it cold. It works, but not as well. After making this, I immediately put two sticks of butter in the freezer so I can have it handy the next time I make biscuits or pancakes. Also, I have been culturing my own buttermilk thanks to an ebay listing and it is phenomenal!

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

If I could give this recipe 10 stars, I would! I didn't have any chocolate chips but these brownies were so good, I'm not sure I would add them next time if I have any. No need to look any further for a brownie recipe. This is perfect. I also made it w/all white sugar w/o substituting and I wouldn't change a thing. I'm pretty sure I've died and gone to chocolate heaven. Tyvm Brooke! Update: After making this recipe several times, I finally used the chocolate chips. Too much chocolate for me, but I love it w/o the chips! 4 stars as written, 5 w/o the chocolate chips IMO.

Country Fried Steak and Milk Gravy

This was good. I didn't have lard so I used plain Crisco. Next time I make this, I'll just use butter. The crisco was NOT a good base for the gravy. I ended up dumping that out and starting over with butter. I also used cream instead of milk and even though the gravy was thick, it tasted AWESOME!

Beef Bourguignon II

This was AWESOME!!! I made it for my in-laws and they were super impressed! I did add a touch more wine after the 2½ hour mark and it seemed to need something so I added approx. 2T sugar. Turned out so, so, so yummy! I used Robert Mandovi Cabernet Sauvignon (pardon me if I spelled any of that wrong). Thank you Teri, I will be making this again!!!!!

4.5 stars...i see several reviewers who think it is too sweet at 3/4 c sugar and i agree, but 1/2 wasn't enough so i did 2/3 and that works well for our tastes. thanks for this recipe!

Baked Pork Chops I

These were pretty good! To avoid over-softening, I opted to just bake these w/o the sauce and serve the sauce over the pork chops and mashed potatoes. It was good - a little thick, but good. May want to add a bit more milk to thin it down. Otherwise, a keeper and will be a go-to pork chop recipe in our house from now on. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

I agree with other reviewers - you need more sauce and less salt. This dish was still excellent though - my hubby and father raved over it! I served it over rice with salad. Yummy!
