Pork Chops with Stuffing

Reviewed: May 4, 2011
My whole family loved this. When I make pork chops, they usually end up dry and tough. With this recipe, they came out moist and tender! I used 2 packages of stove top stuffing, mixed it with cream of mushroom and a cream of celery, the egg, and 1/2 cup water to help moisten the cubes. Put over the browned pork chops, and baked. Yummy! Going in our staple for sure!

Peanut Butter and Jelly Oat Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2011
These taste just like a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich! My daughter and I made these together, and we didn't have enough regular oats to make the topping, so we used a couple of packets of maple and brown sugar instant oatmeal. Now that added a yummy twist! We used grape jelly. Held together nice.

Meatballs in Apple Butter

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
I love to bring this to holiday get togethers. Note: Form balls out of sausage (don't get premade meatballs, the sausage makes all the difference) and fry up in a pan. I use a whole lb. Place in slow cooker with the apple butter and syrup, and cook on low for 2+ hours to warm. Perfect for holiday parties.

Eggnog Cake

For an easy icing just mix eggnog and powdered sugar...sprinkle nutmeg over and voila!

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
Nice and simple. I used the teaspoon of poultry seasoning, and it was strong. I would have liked to use about half that. I had to add more chicken broth to dilute how strong it was. I also used a rotisserie chicken, (I've never tried that before), and it really added to the flavor.

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
This was a 4 star when I made it, but I only used cheddar cheese because I didn't have velveeta on hand. With the velveeta, it definately would have been 5 stars! It was still really good with using all cheddar, so if that is all you have, still worth making. I purreed half of the broccoli before I added it to the roux mixture, but I wish I hadn't. It cooks down so much, that it breaks down already in the sauce when mixed. So I didn't have any nice big bites of broccoli, it was all kind of a broccoli mush, but still very smooth and tasty.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
These are perfect! I used all butter (margarine) and they turned out chewy, not flat, and very flavorful. My kids said, "ewe, raisins" when they saw the raisins, but soon were asking for more before the other batch was done!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
Just made these tonight with dinner and they were very tender, and puffed up more than any other homemade biscuit that I have ever made before. My husband and four children loved these! I doubled the batch and we have leftovers for breakfast!

Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
This was only ok. The bread base was a little bland and too dense. The filling wasn't enough for my taste either. It was good for toasting, but not what I was looking for in a cinnamon bread recipe.

Holiday Pepper Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
I have used this recipe every holiday! Use pepperjack cheese and it turns out great! Not too spicy, and has a great flavor. Even kids like it! Very festive!

Beef Stroganoff II

Reviewed: May 7, 2006
This was very good; just like my mom used to make! Would have given it 5 stars, but for one change: must add almost a can of milk or the sauce is way too thick. I caught it, and it turned out great.

All American Apple Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2006
While it was nice not to have to roll out a homemade crust, it was a little shortbread-like and salty. The filling tasted great, but the topping definately had too much butter and came out too crispy.

Kathy's Easy Chile Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2005
This was pretty good for using just what you have on hand, however it needed either an extra can of cream of chicken or sour cream to make it more saucy. It was a little dry. I will try it again sometime with the changes and then it should be a good fall-back recipe.

Eggnog Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2005
After I made these for a cookie exchange, my husband asked me to make "Santa" an entire batch for Christmas. He absolutely loves these cookies. Since the cookie isn't terribly sweet, go ahead and make the icing thick and spread it on the entire cookie, then sprinkle with the nutmeg. They turn out very pretty, taste just like eggnog, and are perfect for the holidays.

Stove Top Tamale Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2005
This was surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting too much, I just thought it would be a nice change of pace. I used chili beans instead of kidney beans and cooked it in the oven instead of in the pan to get that oven baked taste (400 degrees for 15 minutes). My husband loved it, and I thought the sweet corn muffins blended well with the mexican/chili sauce. Very good! Definately try it!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2005
I have never rated a recipe before, but this one deserves it! All I have to say is this tastes like soft yummy oatmeal cookies over apple pie! Definately double the crumble topping, I put it in my new 9X13 stoneware and what a way to break it in! Awesome!
