About this Cook
I'm a vegetarian and that's how I cook. I'm sort of a healthy cook and I do mainly traditional North American cuisine like macaroni, soups and loafs. Because I grew up eating a lot of Indian food and come from a big city where I've had the good luck to try food from many countries, I love to cook those foods as well, though the ingredients are harder to find in my area.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are my favorite things to eat! My personal specialty is banana bread, that's the thing I share with others most often. I also like to make savory loafs. I'm a creative cook, and I usually invent my own recipes. I don't mind the occasional screw-up, but my husband did, so I started using recipes. Or at least that's what I have him thinking ;).
My favorite family cooking traditions
Saturday night pasta (and movie) night. A different cuisine each night of the week. Mexican, indian, asian...mmm, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!
My cooking triumphs
Cooking vegetarian food that a meat-eater enjoys! My secret ingredient when he starts to miss the meat is textured vegetable protein(TVP). Overcoming my healthy fanaticism and using more fat and salt! It makes everything so much more delicious.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to name! As a creative cook, I've tried a lot of strange things. Many of them were delicious, many of them were...barely edible.

Carrot Soup
Just made this. Eating it now. Super yum. It was a bit mild for my taste so I added about 1/10 t of garlic powder and 1/4 t of cumin powder. And I used 3 c of milk and 1 c half and half. It is a bit spicy, luckily I like a bit spicy.
