Love this recipe! I was a little wary of the beer, but it added a lovely aroma and taste. I used Sam Adams Light to try to cut back on the calories a bit and because we're watching our sodium intake, I added frozen instead of canned corn, used no-salt-added tomato sauce and diced tomatoes (plain, I added a separate can of green chilis instead), and used previously cooked dried beans in favor of canned. The only downside is that after the first night, most of the liquid was gone (and my attempts to make more resulted in sub-par leftovers). Next time, I'm going to double the liquid. I like my soup to be soupy, not chili/stew-like.
