Irish Soda Bread

This was a big hit! Moist with a crunchy dense bottom. The first time I made it I used 3/4 cup of additional buttermilk instead of sour cream. I think it came out denser which I liked, though there was no way to cut an x in the batter. I wish there was a way to get a lighter color and texture on top. Any hints?
