This was delicious! I used yams. I steamed the yams first until cooked, and waited for them to cool down. Then I just mashed and blended it together. I did not sieve the yams, so the pie came out fibery, but it was still very good. I did not add any water, especially since my yams were steam-cooked. I also added a lot less sugar (1/2 of what the recipe called for), because the yams were already so sweet. And I added a lot more lemon extract (2.5 times more than the recipe) to bring out the lemony taste . It was delicious! Everyone complimented on the vibrant orange-red color (because of the yams). I bought the crust, which was the worst part of the pie. Next time, I will leave the crust out and just bake the filling in little tart pans.
