Chicken Broccoli Ca - Unieng's Style

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2015
I added fresh ginger and water chestnuts. I omitted the broccoli. Totally yummy per my husband who loves Chinese food. (I am getting to like Chinese food and this recipe certainly passes.) The sauce really comes together nicely and that is a big plus!!!

Cheesy Turkey Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2014
We liked it. We will probably make it again. Loved the ease of mixing everything together. Next time I would use a flat pan as I had to bake it 30 minutes longer at a higher temperature (400 degrees). That probably won't be necessary with a flat pan. I could always decrease the amount of evaporated milk. We like things non-soupy.

Chicken Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2014
Possibilities all over. I could not weigh my leftover cooked chicken.... needed more. The potatoes never browned even with additional time. I added onions and Pace Picante Sauce. I will make it again, even for company.

Oh-So-Good Chicken

I made this recipe because I had an abundance of mushrooms and chicken. I do not eat mushrooms. My husband said he liked but I could tell he wasn't crazy about it.

Onion Pan-Fried Pork Chops

I used vegetable oil (less than what was called for) and added Montreal Steak Seasoning + garlic powder to the dry ingredients. Excellent, and so easy, too. Thanks.

Crusted Salmon with Honey-Mustard Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2014
I love salmon. I loved the sauce. I guess I did not like it together. It wasn't great and it wasn't bad but I would not make it again.

Salmon Quiche

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2014
OMG ... a wonderful recipe!!! I love salmon but rarely have canned salmon. Some canned salmon was on sale so I bought some. This recipe caught my eye. I basically followed the recipe ... but used a homemade pie crust. Put the flaked salmon and cheddar cheese on unbaked pie shell. Added the blended liquids w/ spices. Baked for 20 minutes, then topped with grated Parmesan cheese and baked for another 20 minutes. Lovely, lovely combination! Boo hoo to the reviewer that sad cheddar cheese and salmon is not a good combination. BTW, my grandfather was a commercial salmon fisherman in Astoria, OR. Salmon is near and dear to my heart. My mother lived into her early 90's because she probably had salmon every day of her life growing up.

Homestyle Chicken and Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2014
I always wanted to make a dish like this and I wasn't disappointed. I liked it better than my husband, which is kind of rare. I used 1 package of (unthawed) frozen stir-fry vegetables and some fresh, blanched broccoli. I added a tad of Worcestershire sauce to the soup mix. This is comfort food.

Smoky Grilled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2014
Wow, I really wanted this to work in re/ to the great reviews. It was a tad salty but the biggest issue was putting it on the meat which was not easy. It was such a glob and 1/2 of it remained on my hands! Flavors were great ... I baked mine .... perfectly executed. I think I would develop it into a marinade. I can see where it would be good on chicken and steak.

Slow Cooker Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2014
This is perhaps the best soup I have ever made. I used huge red potatoes (left skins on), cut back on the celery, and used two ears of fresh corn on the cob. I thickened a little of the room-temperature evaporated milk with some cornstarch = perfectly thickened in a short amount of time. People, don't be afraid if you have to thicken something .... it is so easy to do!!! I cannot wait to serve this at dinner to see husband's reaction. lol

Yummy ... I did make a few changes ..... used Cream of Celery soup, hash brown potatoes, zucchini and Worcestershire sauce. I used two small baking dishes. In my husband's I added sliced (fresh) mushrooms. If you want comfort food, then this is it!

Pork Chops with Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2014
Not good and not bad!! I read all of the reviews so I was prepared. My potatoes cooked (yeah) and my 1+ inch boneless pork chops cooked (yeah). It took 1 hour. I thickened the sauce with Kitchen Bouquet. Potatoes were very bland. I did not use all of the Thyme but I don't think using all of it would be the answer. The potatoes tasted like they were boiled. Ugh. I missed the crustiness of the milk and cheese. I won't be making this again, although my husband would disagree.

Strawberry Pie Filling

Reviewed: May 17, 2014
As written it was good enough to tweet. It was soupy and a tad too sweet. The second time I made it, I decreased the sugar to 1/2 C. For the 1 C, of strawberries, I used my Magic Bullet. No need to strain! I used 4 T, of cornstarch = gelled perfectly! It even sliced perfectly.

Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2014
Good soup but labor intensive. I won't make this often but when I really want to cook, then I will make this. Next time I will roast the tomatoes to see if there is any difference. Maybe I will even consider the short cuts (canned items), just to compare.

Cheesy Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2014
Wow! What a great recipe .... a definitely GO TO for a meal for Breakfast or a Lunch (for company) or Dinner for the home-folk!!! I followed the recipe pretty much to a tee ... cooked my bacon in the George Forman. Added a little half and half, used half Ricotta and half cottage cheese mixed with an electric mixer. Honestly, at first, I did not like the texture but soon realized it was less fat (by far) than using the same ingredients with canned condense soup. All I can san is "thank you".

Springtime Spaghetti

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2014
Well, to put it bluntly, I could eat this often. I tweeked the recipe .... added 2 can of minced clams at the end, cooked my linguine in water + clam juice, steamed fresh asparagus but decided to add 3/4 of the pound to the finished project, served with lemon juice. I cannot wait to try it with shrimp or vegetarian, with any vegetable you have on hand. Love, love, love it! The best review I could give is: I would serve this in my restaurant, if I had one. Thank you!! Thank you!! I cannot wait to make this again, and again, and again!! Thank you!!!

Noodles Riviera

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2014
Just OK but my husband loved it. I have been making a similar recipe, a stuffing in bell peppers for years. That one was easier as it had tomato soup. In this recipe, I used ground turkey, used cilantro in place of parsley, pepper cheese along with Parmesan, and added black pepper. Maybe next time I will mix everything together. I was worried the sauce was too thin but it wasn't. Lots of steps = lots of dishes.

Did not add the fennel as we do not care for fennel. Stuffed bell peppers are a staple in our house but these did not work. I will eat the leftovers but hubby will not.

Excellent and easy!!! Pork chops were very moist! I baked them in a 350 oven for 15 minutes. I omitted the mushrooms as I don't care for them.
