About this Cook
I am a 34 year old Housewife/Foodie, I am hooked on cooking, most of the time I cook a lot of wild meats, but started out my cooking time with the ever faithful Joy of Cooking. I am considering this year diving into Julia Child's books! I have 3 kids under the age of 13 and a Bricklayer husband! So we are healthy eaters. I love this website, I have actually spent time just skimming through recipes for fun!
My favorite things to cook
I love the BBQ, it's my fav. But I also really enjoy a great roast whether it be Beef, Deer, Moose, or Pork. I make an awesome turkey, and have been experimenting with stuffing recipes!! lol!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pretty old school, I've been learning over the last 2 years from my mom, about canning, pickling, and we've just recently tried a really old recipe for Christmas Pudding, that even she hadn't tried. We don't have an authentic race of cooking, as my mom cooked everything and tried lots of new things! I like everything!
My cooking triumphs
My Turkey dinner is great, I've managed to get all my timing done and I brine it overnight, cook it breast down. It's a thing of beauty. I love my Latin Roasted Pork Shoulder, although I've heard from weaker stomachs, that it can be a little too hot. I also finally mastered a hollandaise sauce that actually tasted good. Um...I don't know...lots of little things along the way for sure!
My cooking tragedies
Pot roasts, I'm not sure if it's just because I don't really like them but it seems that I cannot produce one that is not overly drab. I mean it's just meat, and veggies, I just can't come up with a great mingling of flavours. Also can't do bread, it's something I just haven't needed to do, we have a great bakery near by, I feel I should leave it to the professionals.

Herbed Slow Cooker Turkey Breast
I was not actually home, when this was done, I had a meeting, but everyone LOVED IT!! There were claims on the small turkey dinner, etc. If my fam loves it, it was a great recipe!! I LOVED how easy it was to assemble, and can't wait to enjoy it myself, everyone wants it in the rotation!!

Deer Poppers
I have taken this to potlucks, made it at home, everyone has loved it! I added one slice of purple onion, and the cream cheese in the jalapeno, but everything else has been the same! I have done it on the BBQ and in the oven, it's a great recipe, especially for those of us OFTEN cooking venison, I know I like to kick it up a notch! This is great in the rotation!!

Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage
It's a great recipe, often I skip the beer, as we're not beer drinkers, but other then that, I LOVE this recipe, it's easy and it's one of my husband's favourite meals!!
