Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
Very good! Both my kids inhaled 2 pieces, and that, to me, is the sign of good food! My hubby and I really enjoyed it, too. I thawed out and sugared some strawberries to put on it. The only thing missing was whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, but next time...

Poke Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2008
I've made this many times (got it from a Kraft calendar recipe). I use the lemon jello and fold in lemon pudding (mixed, not dry) into the whipped cream. Very tasty. Beatiful garnished w/ lemon slices & lemon zest.

Brie Cheese Appetizer

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
Let me stress that this is not the fault of the submitter of the recipe!!! This was relatively easy to put together, even though I made homemade puff pastry since I didn't have any on hand. This was tastey, just incredibly greasy, though. So much so that I couldn't eat more than a bite, then I felt ill the rest of the evening from the grease of the cheese. Having never had brie before, though, I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm not going to make this again (though, let me stress, it was tastey). I think I'll stick to my regular cheddar cheese ball w/ strawberry preserves. Thanks, though, for a good tasting recipe, even if it's not for me.

Delightful Apple Spice Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
Okay, so since I didn't have a mini-muffin pan, I just made regular size muffins. Aside from that, the only things I did different was light brown sugar instead of regular sugar, then sprinkled the top with cinnamon sugar. I love the flavor, and my extremely picky 2 1/2 year old (as in the child will hardly eat anything he's that picky) is gobbling up his 3rd muffin and I think he's going to ask for a 4th. My 4 year old loves them, and she's never crazy about homemade muffins. This recipe will definitely be a staple in our house!

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2007
These are so yummy! Seriously, even my ultra-picky 4 year old loves them...she and I cannot stop pinching the dough! They baked up nice and soft after 8 minutes. This recipe is a keeper in my book...I've looked for ages for the perfect gingerbread cookie!

Fresh Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
Maybe it was me? I used the ground ginger instead of fresh, just because that was what I had on hand. I've never found that it made a difference in cookies before, though. At any rate, my dough was very dry and crumbly - rather like a pie crust is after you cut in the shortning and before you add the water. I was expecting a dough like chocolate chip or sugar cookie dough. It rolled into balls easily enough, and the kids liked the cookies, so I guess that was the most important thing. I'll keep looking for the perfect ginger cookie recipe. Thanks, though!

Ramen Noodle Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
Believe it or not, I had never had Ramen Noodles before. It was a few days before payday, though, and I didn't have much in the house to eat and not a lot of $$ to go and get a lot, either. LOL I bought a 6 pk. of Ramen Noodles for $1 specifically to try this recipe, as I had everything but the noodles. My DH and I thought it was wonderful! I loved the minimal prep time and, if you use the pre-cooked chicken strips, it takes a lot of the work out of the prep. A very light, delicious meal! Thanks for the recipe, and I will definitely be making this one again!

Spaghetti Sauce II

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
Really yummy! I just used the roll of italian sausage, as I couldn't find links at the store, so I crumbled it and browned it like hamburger meat. Right now it's all simmering together in the slow-cooker. I had a taste of it, and it is really good! I can't wait until dinner tonight!

Gold Onion Soup

Reviewed: May 3, 2007
This is really good! I'm sure it tastes great as a soup with thick, crusty French bread and lots of cheese with it, but I made it and used it to cook beef tips in the crock-pot with. I just used regular white cooking wine as that's all I had on hand. I'm looking forward to getting more stuff when I buy groceries to have it as soup. Thanks for a great recipe!

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2007
These were pretty good, but not as good as I had hoped. I had some cream cheese that needed to be used, so I thought I'd give them a shot. The kids liked them, but I'll probabaly keep searching for that pefect sugar cookie. I'm wanting one that stays soft and melts in your mouth while you eat it, and this just wasn't it.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2007
These are awesome!!! I didn't have any raisins for them, so I just chopped up some grapes (I know that sounds weird, but it worked!). I forgot the cinnamon, but these cookies are so good that they don't really need it (I think, anyway). I made them for my daughter to take to preschool choir for snack and she came home with 2 cookies left (out of a bowlful) and 3 requests for the recipe! I'm making another batch today!

Goat Cheese and Spinach Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2006
These were really good! I didn't have any spinach, so just added more goat cheese (can't go wrong with lots of cheese, can you?) and some quick cooking oats and an egg to hold it all together. My husband raved about how good these were! I liked them pretty well, too, and I'm not a fan of turkey!

Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2006
This was awesome! I used Perdue pre-cooked chicken strips instead of cooking my own chicken. I spread the blue cheese dressing lightly on the crust (garlic flavored crust) instead of using the whole bottle, then after putting the chicken on there I sprinkled 8 oz. of crumbled blue cheese on there and then topped it off with the mozzerella cheese. Very yummy!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies VII

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2006
Yummy! Even my almost 3 year old loved them! I added about 1/2 cup more raisins than the recipe called for, and soaked them in hot (almost boiling water) for about 30 minutes so they wouldn't dry out while baking. They stayed nice and plump. This recipe has tons of flavor to it!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2006
Yummy! I used butter rather than margarine and increased the ginger by a teaspoon because I like a little more "bite" to my ginger cookies. My 2 year old loved munching on the dough and the cookies turned out great!

Brown Sugar Banana Nut Bread I

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2006
Yummy!!! I had to make banana bread today because my 2 year old decided to peel all the bananas I had in the house, so I decided to try this recipe since I don't have one that I use on a regular basis. I think this will be the one I use all the time now! This is so good and moist...even my 2 year old, who hates bananas (but apparently loves peeling them), kept shoveling it in and saying "I like it! Want more, please!"

Pumpkin Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2006
I've made this twice now...the first time last Thanksgiving and the second time today. The first time I used regular pie crusts, but today I used a graham cracker crust and put it in a springform pan, covering the bottom of the pan with foil (outside of the pan) and placing in a water-bath to bake.

Simple Whole Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2006
Oh, yummy! I tried this recipe last week and it was so delicious! Baking time was right on...my 2 year old ate it almost faster than I could pull it off the bone for her! I'm making it again tonight but using boneless chicken breasts since I don't have a whole chicken on hand. I'll be using this for cornish game hens as well. Thanks for a terrific recipe!
