Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2012
I have always disliked cocktail wieners but this recipe converted me. This is my new go to party recipe. I had two packages of cocktail wieners so I cut the bacon in fourths, was able to make 1.5 bags this way. Maybe I did something wrong but I didn't find a need to use toothpicks at all, just laid the smokies down seam side and used the same amount of brown sugar. Putting them in the slow cooker seemed to finish the bacon to perfection.

Perfect Pitcher of Pink Raspberry Cosmopolitans

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2012
This looked easier than my standby recipe for cosmopolitan punch so I gave it a whirl and am glad I did. It was more colorful and way more flavorful. Used this for a New Year's party and it was a success. A few guests felt the vodka taste was too strong, a simple solution was filling their glasses halfway and topping off with lemon lime soda or ginger ale. Perfect recipe for parties!

Curry Stand Chicken Tikka Masala Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2012
This is amazing and has saved us money since we no longer have to go to an Indian resturant. Couple of notes if you are going to alter this in any way, the portion of cream to tomato is very important or the flavor will be off, I had two 8 oz. cans of tomato sauce and used both, simply added two additional tablespoons of cream and it was perfect. Also the curry is a must in this! When tasting the recipe before adding the chicken thought it didn't have the right balance, after the chicken was added and the curry blended into the sauce...Wow! So if you are going to try making a veg variation with chickpeas or paneer, suggest adding the curry for the chicken directly into the sauce. Such a fantastic and easy recipe!!

Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2012
My family wanted a non-tomato based beef stew and this one is perfect! Did make it as others suggested with the red wine, and tried the meat with the seasoned flour first, but think it would have been just fine with only seasoning and browning the meat then thicken with cornstarch. Great recipe thanks for sharing!

Easy Indian Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2012
Love this dish! Have made several times. Prefer to use boneless skinless chicken thighs and broil them instead of baking, it gives that more traditional tandoori look and taste. My family really likes the flavor from the Tandoori Masala so after getting the chicken in the sauce, I taste and add a bit more to the sauce. This makes a lot of sauce, have even had leftover sauce before. Stuck it in the freezer and just made more chicken to add to the sauce on another night.

Vegetarian Korma

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2012
Delicious recipe. Highly suggest making this maybe a day before you actually plan to eat it. Just like chili, spaghetti sauce, etc., the flavors seem to develop over time. Made this for dinner, didn't seem very impressive, then had it for lunch the next couple of days and each day it just tasted better and better. The potatoes and carrots do need longer than 10 minutes to cook.

Only omitted poppy seeds because didn't have them. Recommend using white onion. Wouldn't change anything about this, perfect coleslaw recipe!

Baked Beans II

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
These were perfect! Had to use ingredients I had on hand which were pinto beans (rinsed & drained), bacon bits (real bacon kind) and white vinegar. EVERYBODY loved them. Threw it all in a saucepot and cooked on stove on low heat until everything else was ready to eat. This is now my go to recipe for baked beans. Thank you for sharing!

Butter Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2011
This is the first Indian dish I've made at home that has come close to tasting like anything my Indian friends make. Very easy! The spices were blended perfectly. Was able to adjust spiciness by adding a 1/4 tsp. of each spice until it suited us. Had half & half on hand, not cream but it seemed to work fine. Also added some frozen peas in for color. This is one of those better the next day sort of dishes and it freezes well. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Red Lentil Curry

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
The sauce was amazing! I don't know if I did something wrong but it seemed like I didn't have enough sauce for the amount of lentils, it got really thick instead of saucy, but the taste was great.

Yummy Blueberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
This recipe is unbelievably simple and fantastic! I don't normally take untested recipes to gatherings but I needed a dessert the other night and had a couple bags of frozen blueberries so I thought I'd give it a try. It was gone in less than 5 minutes! I used a mixture of frozen wild and regular blueberries and I did not have whole milk so I used skim. It turned out perfect (the boiling water part freaked me out a bit, but like others said, it gives it that perfect crust so don't skip it). So many people recommend reducing the sugar but I didn't. Nobody complained that it was too sweet and hey you only live once! If you are eating right 80%, you can let go 20%! Thank you so much for this recipe, will definitely be making again!

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2010
This recipe is so simple and delicious! So many different things you can do with it. I like to mince my garlic and put the olive oil in a microwable dish and heat for about 20 - 30 seconds to get more garlic flavor in the oil. Make a great oven-baked chicken parmigiana. Thank you for this recipe!
