About this Cook
I am a 34-year-old mother of two boys. My husband and I have been married for 12 years. We also have an English Bulldog whom I guess you can say is our third son. My mom has been my biggest inspiration when it comes to cooking. She has always made everything from scratch so there would always be a home cooked meal on the dinner table growing up (and even today)! I love to try new recipes and use my boys as guinea pigs. I absolutely love this site and refer to it on a daily basis!
My favorite things to cook
Mexican, stir-fries, soups and stews, roasts, pizza, pasta, etc. etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I host Christmas dinner each and every year at my house and I try to make everything from scratch. I also make a new dessert each year.
My cooking triumphs
Finally being able to make the 'perfect' flaky pie crust which took me quite a while to master. I was so proud of myself when I finally did it!
My cooking tragedies
I made a lasagna many years ago when I still lived with my parents and I didn't measure the salt correctly so I added WAY too much of it, needless to say no one could eat it...even my dad who can eat pretty much anything!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style
I used this rub on pork chops that I cooked on the BBQ and they turned out fantastic. The only things I changed were I didn't add the black and white pepper as the cayenne made it spicy enough for the kids, I cut the salt down to 1 tsp and I increased the garlic powder to 1 tsp. Next time I will try it on chicken. Thanks!

Best Ever Banana Bread
Real simple recipe and sooo good. The only changes I made were I cut the oil to 1/4 cup and added 1/4 cup apple sauce to make-up the difference, I added 1 tsp. cinnamon and vanilla and I added 3/4 tsp. of white vinegar to the milk as I did not have buttermilk on hand. Yum!
