I have been making using this recipe for years for holiday sugar cookies. The only things I have changed is that I use 1 cup butter and 1/2 cup shortening and that I increase the vanilla to 1 1/2 teaspoons. I also used the Sugar Cookie Frosting recipe from this site. Both are wonderful recipes!
