Good New Orleans Creole Gumbo

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2013
Goodness, this is a great recipe! I mean lawdy lawd! I made this gumbo last night for my family of 3. I was thinking that I would have too much gumbo left over since this recipe makes a good amount, so I planned to freeze some, but there was no need because GOOD GUMBO doesn't last long, no matter what. Well, at least not around my family. This was MY VERY FIRST TIME making gumbo, and this recipe is the reason I was able to make a masterpiece work of art! I gave some to my mom, grandma, my brother and sister-in-law, mother-in-law, and best friend. And guess what? After my husband, daughter, and I all had our helpings, there isn't much left at all. It's A SHAME this gumbo is so good. Now my family is requesting that I make gumbo again for Thanksgiving or Christmas, and maybe even New Years. Oh by the way, my husband was hesitant on me making gumbo since it was my first time. I sure did shut down his doubts with this recipe! I did not add okra, vinegar, or Worcestershire sauce. And the flavor was still outstanding. I also added a 14.5 ounce can of tomato sauce instead of 6 ounce, and this caused for a red gumbo bursting with flavor! This recipe is simple as long as you are patient with making the roux. I am very pleased that older women in my family were quite impressed.

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2013
What an awesome recipe! I usually add my own spin on recipes, but I followed the directions precisely for this one, and I am very happy with the results! For dinner, I placed a serving of pepper steak over rice and with a salad on the side for my husband. He ate and came back for seconds, but without the salad. He put a healthy serving of rice and pepper steak on his plate, and was delightfully satisfied when finished. I love it! Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2013
Awesome? Phenomenal is more like it! I made this roast last night. It was simple and very delicious. Perfect flavor! I placed the roast in my slow cooker at 1AM and it was ready by 9AM. The aroma filled my home, and my husband woke up early to try a sample. He LOVED it! I am very happy about this as this was my first time making a roast. The only change I made was adding red onions into mixture before coating. This recipe makes a wonderful gravy.

CB's Black Eyed Peas

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2012
This recipe is phenomenal! To me, it is not the recipe provider's responsibility to teach people how to cook, but solely to share a great recipe with directions of how to prepare it. A person should already know how to soak and clean the peas before attempting a dish like this. I used spicy hot link sausages instead of bacon to flavor the peas, but next time I will try bacon as instructed. Also, I had jarred jalapeno's, so I chopped a few and threw them in. Since I am a fan of spiciness, I also added tobasco sauce which made for a great, highly flavored reddish colored juice along with the stewed tomatos for the peas to soak the flavor of. AWESOME!

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2012
this peach cobbler is BANGIN!!! the only thing i would do differently is add crust at the bottom. most people feel the best part of a peach cobbler is the crust. (i thought about adding crust at the bottom right away, but decided to follow exactly as instructed) wow!! finally a great peach cobbler recipe that i can tweak. after i made this peach cobbler, i let my friend try, and do you know what she said? you are too young to be able to make a peach cobbler that good! mmm hmm! lol

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2012
WOW!! This recipe is FANTASTIC. I used pork ribs instead, added additional seasonings, and used vegetable broth. Aside from that, I followed the recipe exactly because it was my first time making pulled pork. The coffee gave the meat inside the slow cooker an awesome aroma, and I loved how it turned out!

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2012
I am very happy with this recipe. I did not have buttermilk, but did have some half and half. I was scared to use the half and half, but I am so happy I did! This banana bread turned out beyond amazing and incredibly moist. I love experimenting. This a great treat for holiday time.
