Milwaukee Rye Bread
I got a little happy with the potatoes, and shortening: Increasing each by 1 1/2 tablespoons. I cut back on the salt, only adding 2 teaspoons. On this, my first, attempt I also adjusted the flour ratio, having only 5 1/4 cups rye flour, to which I added 3/4 cups whole wheat. The additional whole wheat made the dough sticky so I ended up blending in another 1/4 - 1/3 cups all purpose flour during kneading. Even with the adjustments this is a nice, dense loaf of bread which is great tasting and ideal for sandwiches (i.e. Meatloaf) I will try this again with the adjusted salt content and correct flour amounts. This recipe is a keeper.

Fresh Mushroom Rice Pilaf
I too enjoyed this recipe greatly!: although I have substituted celery for the bell pepper every time I've made this pilaf. The instruction to add garlic seemed unnecessary as garlic powder is already called for, I did however omit the powder in favour of one clove of fresh. This is a great accompaniment to many a meal!! Thanks for this versatile recipe!

Amish White Bread
This is a great and easy bread recipe. I have recommended it to people that are baking bread from scratch for the first time due to its simplicity and ease. Mind you, I've only been making bread from scratch for about 18 months. A word of caution though, watch your measures and proof your yeast as suggested. I might have been a little 'happy' with the sugar the first few times that I made made this myself as it was sweeter than I expected. Otherwise it is a great all around sandwich/white loaf!
