About this Cook
I'm retired from the US Navy. I'm now living in NC.I spend A LOT of time with my two grand babies, Chase 6, and Jordan is 4 We are proud "parents" to Digby our 20 month old bernese mountain dog pup. He is a 125lbs of fun. I love to scrapbook and have been doing genealogy for over 15 years. I love to take pictures, travel, knit and I try to play golf.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake more then just about anything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our family has always loved grilled cheese and home made chocolate shakes. We used to have them most Sunday nights. My Mom hated it, but always made it for us. Now when we go home for a visit on one night it is something we always have to have. Funny how the little things are always the best things.
My cooking tragedies
My husband and I moved to FL and bought a house that had fruit trees. It was August and the fruit was dark green. I thought we had lime trees, so picked the limes and made some lime-aide. It was awful. The lady who we bought the house from moved to one accross the street from us. While I was out walking my dogs I asked her when the limes would be ready to pick. She said that there weren't any lime trees in the yard....only orange trees. When I told her what I did, she said, "oh honey, I hope you used lots of sugar."

Fluffy Pancakes
I made these last night. I added a bit more milk, but other then that followed the directions. These were the BEST pancakes I think I've ever had. I will NEVER buy a mix again. Don't fret the don't taste it at all. My 6 year old grandson ate 3 and said they were the best pancakes ever. Thanks for sharing this.

World's Best Lasagna
I made these Christmas Eve and they were awesome. I used sweet Italian sausage from Johnsville (I had a little trouble finding the sausage). I did use 1 lb of hamburger, because I didn't want to waste it. I didn't use the feenel seeds or onion (I'm anti-onion), but did use some onion powder. Everyone loved them and the leftover's were even better the next day. I think my search for a lasagna recipe is over. This is a keeper. Thank you Johnchandler!

Classic Cinnamon Rolls
These are wonderful. I've been making cinnamon rolls for years and I do think these are the best yet. I needed to add a bit more flour then called for but that was all. I wasn't sure how many potatoes to use....I did 3 small-med and had leftover mashed potatoes. I'll do 2 next time. I used the frosting from the clone of a cinnnabon, which I think is the best. Next time I'll add more filling....I think that was the only flaw to this recipe.. Thanks...I'll make them often.
