Sugar Cookie Glaze

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2011
I used this recipe to drizzle over biscotti. It was very watery. I wish I would have used additional powdered sugar to thicken it up a bit. I also added some vanilla to give it some flavor.

Party Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
Oh, my gosh!! These were sooo good!! I boiled the potatoes with peels on them. I didn't use the sour cream or the onion salt -(trying to cut my fat levels). Instead, I squeezed one large clove of garlic through a press, and substituted "I Can't Believe it's Not Butter" for the butter. Used about 2/3 of the cream cheese and added skim milk until the potatoes were creamy with a few lumps here and there. This is the way I like 'em!! They were a huge hit in my household. Will make again for Thanksgiving!! Thanks for an Outstanding recipe! We absolutely loved them.

Cinnamon Coffee Cake II

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2011
Absolutely fantastic! I made this using a bundt pan and followed everything as stated in the recipe. If you use a bundt pan, add the cinn layer first so this layer ends up on the top of your cake instead of the bottom, like mine did. :( Next time I may use an 8x13 pan instead. I wish the order of layering in a bundt pan would have been mentioned in the recipe

Peach Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2011
i tried the version that used 1/4 c oil and 1 c applesauce to lessen the fat. i would make the recipe as is next time as i found it lacked the muffin soft/light consistency. sometimes substitutions just are not worth the quality of your final product!! please note that i didn't let my substitutions affect the rating of this recipe.

I baked these cookies at 340 degrees for 8 minutes, in convection oven. I also substituted the shortening and used butter. These cookies were to die for!!! I doubled the recipe and had enough filling for all cookies. PERFECT RECIPE!! SOOO GOOOOOOD!!!!

Lentil and Green Collard Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2011
This soup is much better the next day after flavors blend. I used Mustard Greens instead of Collards. I gave it 4 stars because I think it needed some other color in it like carrots. Reminds me of hummus, except more watery consistancy.

Karithopita

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
I am Greek and this is NOT your typical karithopita! This cake is more dense. It lacks allspice, orange zest, vanilla and clove. Definately didn't do anything for us. Lacks spice flavors. I'll keep searching....

Cream Cheese Penguins

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
These were so much fun at the New Year's Party last night! People actually gathered around it and took pictures of them. I had a piece of celery that acted as a teeter totter on a large dried marshmellow under the center. I made a mini sign that said "Happy New Year!", held on a toothpick and put in on the penquin that was in the air of the teeter totter. Added pieces of brocoli that served as bushes on the platter. wholla! A great presentation that was so much fun for the kids as the adults!

Apricot Brown Sugar Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
This was the best ham ever!!! I've been looking for a ham recipe and FINALLY found one! I used a spiral cut ham, put most of the glaze on, wrapped my ham in foil and popped it in the oven. About 1/2 hour before serving, I added the remaining glaze. Everyone was amazed at the flavor yet it was soooo easy. I used the recipe as is. Don't change a thing. This recipe is a winner!!

Dorothy's Stefado

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2010
I am Greek and have had this dish many times as a child. I always remember this dish having a tomato base which was rich with flavor and thick. This recipe gives you a beefywatery base - no red tomato color. i am questioning the picture as it looks like there are tomatos in it. My family thought this tastes pretty good, but question the color. Maybe I can add some tomato sauce to see if this will improve the flavor/appearance. I used my crockpot on low for 12 hours. Easy recipe to follow. Would I make it again? It's missing something. It might be the addition of tomato sauce.

My Own Famous Stuffed Grape Leaves

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2010
I am Greek and loved this vegetarian version. Being from Crete, we always use tomato sauce in our Dolmas so I added about 1/2 sm can. I also use Oralando brand grape leaves from a jar. The Kronos brand is way too tough and never use them. I usually simmer mine in a pot with a plate sitting on top of the dolmas to keep them down. Dolmathes are best the next day after they've had a chance to blend flavors. Don't forget to smother some avgolemono sauce on top and a hunk of bread. These are the best! Thanks, Patti!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
I didn't have any Italian salad dressing on hand so I just threw in the rest of the ingredients. The chicken was tender and very good. If you want to throw something together that is extremely simple, try this recipe. With the upcoming football season, this will surely be a huge hit with any crowd that you have over at your house.

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2010
Good recipe! Yes, the batter is runny, but it baked up just fine. I made this in 2 - 9 in pans and cut them in half. It was sort of tricky to cut in half. Put it on a cutting board and cut with a surrated knife. The frosting was the best part. Very creamy, thick and chocolatey. This was the best cake I've ever made or tasted! It was a hit with everyone.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2010
Oh, my gosh....is this soup ever so good!! This is the first time I've ever had Tortila Soup. The ingredients looked healthy and low in fat so after reading some of the reviews, I made it over the weekend. I also used one can of black beans. Loved the tortilla strips as well. Plan on making more of this soup this coming weekend. Oh, make sure you put in the cilantro-it's a must! Also, I put in my chicken raw and shredded it when my soup was done. EXCELLENT RECIPE! Thanks!
