About this Cook
I am a busy mom to two little girls. My husband and I both love to cook. We live in a small town in NC, and I cannot imagine living too far from here. I am able (fortunate) to be home with my kids while they are small.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook just about anything. I think we all have our favorite/go-to meals. I like incorporating veggies into my cooking, and this year health is something I want to strive for...and our food is where it starts! I am not a huge baker, but have recently developed an interest!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have pulled up a stool or chair and had my kids cooking with me since they were 2. My 7 yr old cracks eggs one-handed;) My husband and I both cook, so cooking with him is something I want the kids to see and learn that in a marriage, both people can help out. My Mom and I cook Thanksgiving dinner together every year. Cooking with and for the ones you love is special.
My cooking triumphs
Well, I have no 'real' experience or awards. My personal cooking triumphs are when I take a dish to an event and there is nothing left to bring home, and everyone raves about what I made, or asks for the recipe. However, I do not usually cook from recipes, I am a taste/smell cook, but I love finding recipes for new ideas, and the first time, I even follow them before I change it up;)
My cooking tragedies
Well...hmmmm. Once I was making BOXED Jambalya and it called for water in a 2qt pan. ---note...this was LONG ago. I misread and was in a hurry. I thought it called for 2 qts of WATER. Well, it was a hideous disaster. No kids then so hubby and I had a sandwich;)

Grilled Radishes
Gotta say, other than sliced in salads, I never cared for radish. Then I tried this when my home delivered produce included a beautiful bunch of radishes. And...I loved it! The kids loved the 'pink' color the dish ended up with, and it was great alternative to scalloped potatoes or something similar. Amazing! I've sent the recipe to friends who were equally as impressed! Thanks for a great recipe!

Michael's Foccacia Bread
I am just delving into the world of making bread from scratch, and this was one of my first attempts. I could not believe how straight forward the instructions were. It came together as it was supposed to, and it was very good! It makes a huge amount of bread, so I gave some to my Mom and Dad who loved it too! I kept true to the original recipe...minus the extra salt on top...not needed. I found it on the edge of almost being to salty even without the extra, but we like salt, so it was fine! Next time...tomatoes on top! Thanks for the great recipe, it's well written, and first time bread makers CAN successfully make this...with great results!
