Yakisoba Chicken

this is a really great "starter" recipe - you can add any veggies you want, omit anything you want, etc. I didn't have chili paste, but thought it was fine without it. The major change I made was the noodles - my grocery store didn't carry soba noodles, but they did have rice noodles which I found to be very yummy.

Chicken and Spinach Alfredo Lasagna

I made this for a dinner party and it was a hit! I used shredded chicken breasts instead of a whole roasted chicken - just stick the breasts in your crockpot that morning and it's easier to shred when you start dinner!

Fried Cornmeal Mush

My husband requested this because his grandmother used to make it. He said it was very close, but too watery after just 1 night. It was actually the perfect consistency after 2 nights, but the downside is you have to wait that long! We put a blended mixture of butter, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt to spread on top - really delicious!

Chocolate Trifle

My mom used to make something she called "Death by Chocolate" and this is the closest to it I could find. I added Heath pieces on top which not only added to the beauty of the dessert, but went really well with the chocolately flavors!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies II

really yummy! Don't forget the salt - about 1/2-1 tsp!! Also, if you're looking to make them a little healthier, use 1 cup white flour and 1 cup whole wheat or spelt flour. There's no difference in taste or texture, but lots of difference in nutrients and fiber content!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

VERY tasty, very moist, but still crumbly as cornbread should be. I am going to reduce the sugar to 1/2 cup next time - my husband is a "San Antonio boy" and said this was sweeter than traditional cornbread.

Clone of a Cinnabon

This recipe really is great - I always try to add fiber and other nutrients to my recipes, so I put 2 cups of white flour and 2 1/2 cups of spelt flour. I also used butter instead of margerine...and I didn't have any cream cheese on hand, but a regular powdered sugar frosting was still great!!

Artichoke Chicken

so easy, so yummy! I served it with asparagus and mashed potatoes and it was a hit! I did end up using half mayo/half sour cream and it was awesome. I also seasoned the chicken with salt & pepper and pressed garlic into the breasts before spreading the artichoke mixture on top.

Italian Sausage Tortellini Soup

This soup is AWESOME. I made it according to the directions and loved it, but my husband thought there were too many different chunks in it. So the second time I tried cooking the onions for much longer until they carmelized. Then I puree'd the carrots with the tomatoes, tomato sauce, fresh basil, and wine. I dumped that puree in with the sausage & onions, then sprinkled the oregano in. I followed the recipe for the rest. It turned out perfect. Thanks!!!!

Sesame Noodles

This is a great recipe for authentic asian noodles. I know some people said they didn't like the flavor combination, but this is the flavor combination Asian noodles SHOULD have! I do agree that the recipe could get away with less safflower oil - I would say 4 tlbs would be plenty...all it really needs to do is help coat the noodles. I served this on the side with the Asian Lettuce Wraps. Thanks!

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

I followed this recipe almost exactly and it came out wonderfully! I used 9 fresh peaches (they were small peaches). My husband, who is a born southerner, says that this was the best peach cobbler he'd ever tasted.

Asian Lettuce Wraps

The ONLY substitution I made was chicken for the beef. They were excellent. I used 4 chicken breasts and simply diced & sauted. 4 may have been 1 too many since the wraps didn't turn out to be as messy as other reviewers described - the mixture came out quite solid and managable. To add some fun, I serve a wasabi ginger sauce on the side (to spoon into the wrap) - that really did the trick! You can find it in the Asian section at your grocery store usually. I will DEFINITELY make these again!!

Husband's Delight

I followed the reviewers' suggestions and put the pasta at the bottom and cooked the onions with the beef and added more tomato sauce. The casserole came out just fine - the taste was okay. I really didn't like how much cream cheese there was - a little too strong for me. Next time, I'll try reducing the cream cheese and adding even more tomato sauce to the beef.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

This recipe would get five stars, but it was really all the reviewers who made it excellent! I combined ideas and added a little cooking wine in the crockpot (about 1/4 cup). I was worried that the chicken would be in for too long without much liquid, but it turned out SOOO good (even after 9 hours, since I work full time). The only other change I made was to cut the cream cheese in half - I'm VERY glad I did because it was really creamy and I think it would have been overkill to add more than the 4 oz. of cream cheese. Thanks to all the reviewers for the suggestions!

Chicken Monterey

I generally liked this recipe. The sauce is more onion-based than I like, however. I had to bake it at 325 until it simmered - 300 didn't seem right. Next time I'll reduce the onions and add some heavy cream. For some reason, it tasted better the next day - the flavors had time to meld a little more.

Asparagus Cashew Rice Pilaf

Really great recipe. I accidently doubled the butter, but it was still excellent. I used whole wheat spaghetti to add a little more color and for the extra nutrients. My husband had seconds - which is very rare. It also reheats well the next day.

Carrot Cake III

Excellent recipe - very moist and tasty. I used 2 9" round pans and made a layer cake (baked in about 30 minutes) - turned out great!! This will be the recipe I use for carrot cake from now on.
