I love to cook new things - I have a few select recipes I keep going back to, but discovering new and exotic things to make for dinner is my favorite thing to do!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pumpkin soup. I know - it sounds gross, but it's all about going in the fall, picking out the perfect pumpkin, and eating a hot bowl on a cold day!
My cooking triumphs
I tried my hand at a Groom's cake and feel that it was a success. I'm also quite proud of my twin heart cakes made for a Valentine's Day/50th Year Anniversary - one strawberry cake heart and one red velvet cake heart.
My cooking tragedies
I attempted a soup with beans...I'd never used uncooked beans before and didn't know they needed to be pre-soaked! It also took me an embarrassing number of times to find out that you can't just raise the temperature of the oven to cook things faster...my poor family has eaten their share of dried, crusty chicken!
