Spicy Orange Zest Beef

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2014
Don't count on having leftovers! After the initial 2 minutes of cooking the beef, I removed it from the wok and stir fried some broccoli florets for three minutes, added sliced red pepper strips for another minute then tossed the beef back in to finish. I served it over Jasmine rice and my family loved it!

Flaky Food Processor Pie Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
I followed this recipe to the letter and ended up with a crust that was impossible to work with. I tried altering the amount of water but after 4 attempts with new ingredients each time, I gave up. I'm going back to making it the old fashioned way. Some things were just not meant to be done by a shortcut.

Glen's Cheese Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2013
My family loves cheese sauce but we didn't care for this one. I followed the recipe accurately but we found that the sherry was overpowering and didn't go well with our steamed vegetables. Next time I will just add a little more milk.

Spicy Tomato Chutney

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2012
Very nice. I used allspice (assuming that was the same as mixed spice) and it turned out exactly as I thought it should!

Easy Watermelon Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2012
I agree with the comment about tossing it at the last minute, or the watermelon dissolves and goes mushy. We added some chopped mint to the mix which gave it a nice bright twist. It's very simple to make and doesn't last long in the bowl.

Alicia's Aloo Gobi

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2012
Great flavour! Very tasty and hard to stop at just one serving. Since it was our first time, I decided to reduce the cayenne pepper to 1 tbsp and I am happy I did. It had just the right amount of heat. The full amount would make this equivalent to a Vindaloo in heat. Next time I will hold back the cauliflower for 10 minutes so that it doesn't crumble quite as much, but this is a definite keeper in our house.

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2012
I agree with another comment that the sauce tastes too much like ketchup. I also found that too much of the flavour of the meat was lost in the slow cooking. I admit that I'm a purist when it comes to ribs and nothing comes close to ribs that were dry rubbed, smoked slowly and then sauced at the last stage of cooking.

Jo-Ann's Power Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2012
They taste really good. I tried them with dried cherries for a variation and these were good too. One note though, made as per the recipe the calories are closer to 300, not 197. They do have 6 grams of fibre though so that's pretty good for breakfast.

Buffalo Chicken Wing Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2012
This is the real deal. If you don't like this recipe, don't bother ordering Buffalo wings in Buffalo because they're exactly the same. The only thing I did differently was to cook the wings in my TFal Actifry without adding any oil. The chicken fries in its own oils and they're just a little bit healthier that way.
