Pork Roast with Thyme

Reviewed: May 17, 2004
This was great! My whole house smelled great and both my kids and my husband came home asking what was that wonderful smell. The roast was very tender and extremely flavorful. My husband doesn't like leftovers, but he asked to take it to work as a sandwich the next day.

Chalau

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2004
This was very good. Rather different for my family, who isn't used to eating lamb, but good. I was skeptical about the spinach addition, but it worked well, the lamb was VERY tender. I served it over rice. I accidentally grabbed parsley instead of cilantro but it was still good!

Ultimate Lemon Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2004
This was so-so. In my husband's words, he said it tasted like flour. The cake was very dry, with little pockets of moistness. About the only thing that tasted lemony was the glaze and icing (which were pretty much the same thing, so why the extra step?). I was in need of a sweet fic and this wasn't it. I won't make this again.

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2004
I am a potato lover, so this was good for me just because they were potatoes...HOWEVER, I didn't taste any of the seasonings! I think they were spread too much on the cookie sheet. Next time I will just place them in a casserole dish and pour the sauce over them.

Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2004
Excellent! I added more garlic, of course, but I placed dollops on top of the Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks as they were cooking...wonderful! I have frozen a batch to use as needed.

Chocolate Decadence Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2004
As with another reviewer, I had too much batter for the pan....this was a disaster. It took WAY longer to cook than the recipe suggested, plus the center never cooked!!! This was horrible...I ended up throwing the entire thing away, pan and all!

Baked Seafood Au Gratin

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2004
This was VERY runny...I followed the recipe, but I DID halve it, the only change. My family seemed to like it however, but I found it to have a poor presentation, which made me disinclined to eat it, despite how much I love seafood!

Chicken Pot Pie IV

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2004
This was great!! I went a little overboard on the amounts for the ingredients so I had plenty of filling left over. No problem! I just put it in a bowl and ate it! My family devoured this. I used fresh broccoli and carrots that I steamed. I also sauteed chopped chicken breasts in garlic and a little seasoned salt for flavor. Very good!

Baked Apples in Butter Brandy Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2004
This was very sweet and apple pie-y, but I had some tartness because I used Granny Smith apples. The presentation was poor...when I removed the foil the apples looked rather smushed not very appealing. Nevertheless it was good. I didn't taste ANY brandy, so next time I will decrease some of the sugar and increase the brandy.

B.L.T. Salad with Basil Mayo Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2004
This was very good!! The only drawback was I didn't have enough dressing. I also added more than 2T of the drippings to make it smoother. But there was still only enough to put a couple spoonfuls on each person's serving. But otherwise the salad is very crunchy and tasty and I love how the croutons came out! Instead of browning them in a skillet I spread them out on a pizza pan and stuck them a 400 degree oven for about 15 minutes...very good!

Sunday Sticky Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2004
I am not sure what was supposed to be sticky about this chicken, but it did not go over well with my family. The gravy was VERY thin...the cornstarch mixture did nothing to thicken it. I think if I make this again I will use less water and broth in order to have a thick gravy.

Banana Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2004
Very good! I made this in a bundt pan. My husband loves Bannan pudding, and he enjoyed this, though he would have preferred the pudding!

Oven Baked BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2004
Extremely tender, though you ran out of sauce early on...way before 2 hours...I will double the amount of sauce next time...but my family LOVED this and the meat was falling off the bones.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2004
The sauce was VERY thin...I expected a thicker sauce, and the beans to break down more. However, my family liked it. When I served leftovers I added cooked shrimp to it as well.
