Hardly Hard Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2012
I did not care for this recipe. Not hard sauce at all.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
I absolutely love bread pudding and am very picky about it. This recipe was wonderful. I used stale, sliced wheat bread (8 pieces), with 1 cup H&H + 1 cup whipping cream. I topped it with a brandy sauce I found on another site. Everyone loved it but I don't think it would serve 12 people. It didn't in my house.

Super-Simple, Super-Spicy Mongolian Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2011
I'm baffled by the excellent ratings. Other than a little hotness (I used 1tbs of pepper flakes) this really didn't have any flavor at all. Very disappointing and will not make again.

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2011
I also increased the sauce as others suggested by doubling all the sauce ingredients and added: 1 sm jar capers, drained, 1 jar marinated artichoke hearts, drained, and 8 oz of portobella mushrooms, sliced thick. Delicious and easy.

Irish Whiskey Flat Iron Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2011
Flat iron steak is a staple in my kitchen but this was the least flavorful marinade I've ever used. I will not make it again. I followed the recipe exactly.

Roasted Okra

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
My family loves okra, as long as its not slimy. We eat it steamed (whole), fried or pickled. This recipe is the best okra recipe I have ever used. I don't believe I'll ever cook okra any other way. In addition to the okra, I included sliced fresh mushrooms and sliced white onions and used habanero infused olive oil. The amount of salt called for in the recipe is way too much for the amount of okra listed, but that is a personal preference. I mixed everything together in a large bowl then emptied it all on to a foil lined baking sheet and roasted as directed. It had the best texture and flavor and NO slime. Great recipe.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2010
Good concept but I will definitely not make again without major adjustments. I made it exactly as written and it was TOTALLY tasteless. Neither my husband nor son liked it. Neither did I.

Peppered Shrimp Alfredo

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Excellent, excellent, excellent. I used one 16oz bag of frozen fajita veggies which include onions, red and green bell peppers.

Pappardelle Puttanesca

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
Very easy, excellent taste. Great side dish for any number of things. I served it with baked chicken. I didn't have anchovy stuffed olives so I used green olives but will make it next time as written. I only used one 14 oz can of tomatoes and served it over 1/2 pound of angel hair pasta. I used the quantities of all other ingredients as written. Nice and garlicy.

Triple Berry Crisp

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2009
I was looking for something easy for a last minute dessert and this came out great. I used frozen blueberries and frozen tart cherries that I had in the freezer. I also added finely chopped pecans to the oat mixture. It was a big hit with everyone, served warm with vanilla ice cream.

Pepper and Salsa Cod

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
This was totally tasteless. I used cod with my favorite salsa, seasoned with garlic pepper and even added mushrooms and asparagus on top of the bell peppers which ended up being the only saving grace.

Pan Fried Halibut Steak with Light Green Sauce

Reviewed: May 10, 2009
Excellent recipe. In a separate pan I sauted mushrooms & garlic in butter, then added that to the sauce before spooning it over the fish. Delicious.

Pork and Veggie Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
Delicious. I used all the ingredients listed but in different forms as noted so I wouldn't have to go to the store: 1 whole bag of Kroger brand frozen seasoning veggies that includes carrots, onions & celery, 1 can Rotel tomatoes that already has green chilis, plus a container of fresh pico de gallo I had in the fridge. I also used beef stock instead of water and bouillon and increased it to 4 cups. Served it with rice. Will definitely make again.

Mom's Meat Loaf

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
This is the best meatloaf recipe I've tried. Flavorful and moist. Like others, I decreased the brown sugar by half, and added extra Worcestershire sauce and about 2 tbs prepared yellow mustard to the sauce.

Roasted Asparagus and Mushrooms

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
This was an excellent recipe. Easy and tasty. My asparagus was very skinny so it was a little overdone. I should have cooked the mushrooms for awhile then added the asparagus. I will make this again.

Amazing Pork Chops in Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
My family enjoyed this recipe. I wanted a recipe that did not call for Cream of Mushroom soup, but honestly, it didn't taste any different than when I do use cr of mushroom. It still deserves 4 stars because whether you make your sauce from scratch or used canned soup its a great way to cook pork chops.

Chocolate Delight

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
I made this for Christmas Eve and it was gone! I used Kaluha for the liqueur and a premium toffee made by a local candy company. I would recommend using the best toffee you can find locally. Delicious and attractive for special occasions.
