Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
Used 5# bag of red potatoes (skin on) and added about 1.5 more cups of Boars Head ham and 3 tbs of cooked bacon. After combining all the ingredients, mixed all of it in a food processor and then tossed in crock pot for four hours on low. In all, I used about 2 tbs of white pepper, 1 tsp of poultry seasoning, red pepper, and Old Bay. Topped with sharp cheddar about 5 minutes before serving and was a huge hit.

Bam! Even my wife ate it with no complaints. She is a stickler when it comes to meat and potatoes.

Calzone

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2005
Made plenty of dough with the original recipe. Came out with bell peppers, pepperoni, sausage, and cheese filling and created two of the best 5x12 calzones!

Spinach Appetizers

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2004
Bam! I was so afraid when I took these over to a party. They don't look exactly pretty, but everyone raved about them. Great taste and had Teriaki salad dressing for dipping. Gave it a zing.

Crispy Coconut Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2004
It was good, yet lacked the "blow me away" flavor that I reserve for five stars. Other than lacking a lot of flavor, I would do it again.

Scrumptious Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2003
Flavor was just like my aunt's recipe from way back. It only makes enough for 9 inch square dish, so double it for more than 8 people if this is usually a staple at your holiday dinner like mine. My brother in law made this in a large 9 x 13 pan and it looked like it barely covered the bottom of the pan. Other than that, delish!

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2003
This was planned for a Christmas party of 11 so I was shocked when I realized that this recipie made just enough to fill a 9 inch square glass dish. I ran back to the store for more stuff and the next dish I added cream of mushroom soup instead. Both turned out well, but the fisrt batch with sour cream was ALL GONE on the first pass. No leftovers. I could tell a difference in the flavor between the two. What's interesting is that my family has made GB casserole for years with cream of mush and they loved the sour cream mix better. Cooked on 325 for an hour. Nice crust on top.

Hugh's Dry Rub

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2003
Simply perfect mix of flavor. I did 15# turkey before deep frying and it cooked right into the skin. I think this worked out better than the liquid injections into the bird.

Cranberry Apple Gelatin Mold

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2003
I passed this recipe to my brother in law to make. The flavor was good even though he never took it out of the bowl to make it mold to a shape. I would do it again.

Giblet Gravy I

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2003
Not so bad for my first turkey gravy. I didnt have chikn broth, so I sub'd dry chicken boullion powder. Problem was, I made this too late so I had to rush it on high heat. This hardened the gizzards and made them rubbery. Don't rush it and you will be alright.

Mini Cheesecakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2003
Wow. What a hit! This was my first cheesecake endeavor and I went out on a limb and made it for a party of 11 for Christmas. They devoured the cakes. I used full size cups, so one recipe only makes around 15 with a little bit left over. I ended up making around 45. Don't be afraid as I was when they come out of the oven nice and tall and drop to half their size after cooling. They look pretty rough after cooling, so just don't serve them without topping. Yummy.

Barbye's Cornbread Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2003
Being a male, I was scared of making the stuffing(as well as anything else) after a grandparent had made it for 20+ years. This actually turned out well. Now it wasn't the way Gramma made it, but we had no complaints. I thought it was a bit dry, but I cooked it on 325 with green bean casserole for over an hour. Not too shabby for a guy!

Slow Cooker Creamy Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2003
The taste was OK. Problem was, I didn't know if would come out that brown color. I actually cooked this for my wife's Christmas party at work. No one touched it due to it's sad presentation so it came home and I tried it. Like I said, taste was OK.

Asparagus Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2003
Well, we finally hit something I didn't like. I used fresh asparagus instead, that may have not helped. This was the first time I had steamed the veggie, it turned out stringy. You couldn't cut it and it came out of the casserole in huge lumpy clumps. Maybe not try this again.

Chicken Chimichangas

The first time I tried this recipe, I had only small size tortillas. So, we just cut them up the size of chips and fried them up. Served the rest of the stuff on the side and it was still a hit!

Pow! Now that's crunchy chicken! Reminds me of the old Crispy Chik we used to eat as kids. I love the breading and now have a fried chik recipe to die for!

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2003
I really liked the idea of the foil balls to keep the bird from drowning in the grease and juices. However, I find that we just aren't bid baked chicken fans. It seems to lose the flavor even when injected.
