About this Cook
I'm 22 and just beginning culinary school but I've been cooking and baking since I was a kid. I'm very passionate about baking and cake decorating and I attribute this love to my mom, she taught me the basics and got me started. Since then I've read (more like studied actually, ha) countless cookbooks and watched more cooking shows than probably anything else on tv and now I'm trying to become a professional pastry chef. Yep, I'm having fun working in a professional kitchen and getting bossed around by a crazy chef haha.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking Italian and Mexican cuisine. And I really love preparing fresh vegetables. Love, love vegetables. :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love baking with my mom and sister during the holidays. We do tons of cookies for christmas and lots of pies for thanksgiving.
My cooking triumphs
I always feel like I've made some sort of triumph when I've made someone happy with my food or desserts. But to be more specific, on two separate occasions I've had large rooms full of people applaud at my cakes. Yep. :)
My cooking tragedies
Um, I don't know. I don't remember specific incidents (must have blocked them from my memory, haha) but I know I've definitely ended up in tears on a few occasions.

Orange Almond Biscotti II
These were really good, definitely the really crunchy kind of biscotti. I thought 1 1/4 cups of sugar sounded like a lot, so I cut it down to 1 cup and kinda wished I hadn’t. It really does need all the sugar. And the dough was pretty sticky, so I found that wetting my hands with water really helped when shaping it.

Alienated Blueberry Muffins
These were so fun to make and my family just loved them! I used a cup of frozen blueberries because that was all I had on hand and they turned out great.

Vegan Corn Muffins
This recipe is wonderful. It goes really well with vegan chili. I can hardly wait for this summer weather to end so I can start making lots more! Oh yeah, and the non-vegans in my family enjoyed this recipe just as much as I did.
