Spicy Black Bean Empanadas

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2010
I'm not sure what to make of all the positive reviews. The pastry sheets called for in this recipe were not very easy to work with. Too sticky. They also are not very fitting for the dish. They would be better for a dessert. The filling was okay, nothing special, but the pastry made it very odd and hardly worth eating.

Turkey Tetrazzini II

Simple and delicious, though I find it fairly plain as written. This is an easy recipe to experiment with as you cook it. I highly recommend adding a little cayenne pepper - not enough to make it spicy, but just to give it some zing. If you'd like a richer sauce, you might add cream cheese or sour cream. Mushrooms are a welcome addition. I appreciated the suggestion of topping the dish with italian bread crumbs before baking.

French Toast I

This recipe is really good and easy, and you can even make it with cheap sandwich bread if that's all you have on hand. The key to this recipe is not to soak the bread too much. Put your slice in the mixing bowl, flip it right over, and then put it on the griddle. I experimented with soaking the bread more, and it ends up being soggy and undercooked.

French Silk Chocolate Pie II

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2003
Take note! If you're mixing and mixing and your mix is still a bit soupy, put the bowl in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. Then take it out and start mixing again, and it will firm up fast! I found this out by accident and it saved the day. The pie was smooth and rich, a hit for any french silk fan!
