Gone to Heaven Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2003
Excellent pie. I used a graham cracker crust, because that's what I had on hand, and it turned out great. It is a very rich pie so it will serve many. Easy to make and delicious. Will make again.

Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
Awesome! I didn't even put the carrots, celery, or peppers in it (picky family), and it is the best I've ever made/had! I'll never buy it from the store again. Thank you so much!

Flourless Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2004
This is a great recipe. I used a package and 1/3 of semi sweet chocolate chips because that's what I had on hand. I don't think it needs any sort of topping at all, it is so rich and sweet. Definitely a dessert for a crowd because of this. I'll make it again. It is like something you would get in a restaurant.

Smushed Apples and Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2004
This ia a fabulous recipe and really easy. It tastes nothing like apple pie though. In fact, I couldn't even taste the apple. I used another tart apple because I didn't have a granny smith on hand. I think maybe I'll use more apples next time. I used half white sugar and half brown sugar for the sugar the recipe asks for. I think the brown sugar is better with the sweet potatoes than all white. Definitely a keeper! Thanks!

Beef and Biscuit

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2005
Really good comfort food. I used some chopped up red bell pepper instead of the green chili because that's what I had. I used cheddar cheese. I, like others, had to add extra spice, about 1 12/ tablespoons chili powder and a few drops of hot sauce, to jazz it up a bit. It was great and will definitely be a common meal in our house. Kind of a twist on the sloppy joe!

Three Cheese Garlic Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2005
This was great! I did change it a little, based on the ingredients I had on hand. I layered grated cheddar cheese and swiss between the layers. Instead of garlic slices, I just sprinkled a little garlic powder between the layers. I also chopped up a couple of tablespoons of onion and layered them in. Instead of cream I used milk with about 3 heaping tablespoons of flour mixed into it, then poured it over the top of the potatoes. I also added grated cheddar cheese to the top the last 30 minutes of cooking. Great recipe and will definitely be a keeper in my house! Thanks!

Monster Cookies VI

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2005
Super easy, absolutely great crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside cookie. I followed exactly like the recipe except didn't use the corn syrup, didn't have any. Turned out great! Not sure what the benefit of using the corn syrup would be. I highly recommend this as a tasty, semi-nutritious snack for your kids. My kids loved them! Thanks!

Vegetable Cheese Soup I

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2005
This was fabulous! I really wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. I have had cheese soups in restaurants, and have always wanted to find that great recipe to make at home, but am always disappointed. I would say this is it! Here are the slight changes I made: 1 can of vegetable broth, double the potatoes, used the Kroger brand jar of processed cheese, added 1 clove minced garlic and I made it on the stovetop. (Since I made it on the stovetop, I sauteed the veggies in a little butter before adding the broth)Oh, I like others, added the creamed corn when I added the cheese. Excellent, thank you!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Wonderful! Couldn't be more easy. I followed recipe exactly and turned out great. The kids like them with or without frosting, and the smell while they are baking is fabulous! Great for fall. Thank you!

Snickerdoodles V

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2004
Excellent! I used 3/4 c butter flavored Crisco and 1/4 c country crock margarine because I was craving something sweet and that's all I had on hand! I also added 1 tsp vanilla when I was mixing in the eggs. The cookies turned out great. They were flatter, probably because of the margarine, but tasted fabulous. I will definitely be keeping this in my favorite cookie recipes! Thanks!

Tomato Chicken Parmesan

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2005
Perfect! I used provolone because that's what I had on hand, but I think any cheese would work. Just like another reviewer mentioned, the sauce tastes wonderful with the chicken flavor in it. I would probably use Italian bread crumbs next time for more flavor. I did add garlic powder as someone suggested. I'll be making this a lot! Thanks!

Baked Potato Soup II

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2006
I thought this was a great recipe. I made just a few changes, 5 large white potatoes, 2 minced garlic cloves, added a can of chicken broth with the milk, lts of black pepper. I had no problems with it being too thick, maybe because of the extra chicken broth. Definitely make it again. I've done a few of these potato soup recipes off Allrecipes, and this one is my favorite. It is the easiest, quickest and isn't too thick. Thanks!

Pumpkin Muffins II

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
This was the best! I halved this recipe because I didn't need so many muffins. Following some of the other suggestions, I did the following: Used 2/3 a 15 oz can of pumpkin, 1 egg and 1 TBS of water, 1 c. flour, I halved the baking powder, soda, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. On the spices, I used 1/2 tsp nutmeg, no allspice (didn't have any), and 1/2 tsp cloves. This method made 12 regular size muffins. Really moist and flavorful, just the right amount of spice. Definitely will make again.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2006
The best meatloaf recipe on this site so far. I decreased the brown sugar to 1/3 cup based on other reviews that it was too sweet. I'm glad I did, I think it was perfect this way. I didn't have cracker crumbs so I just used 1 cup bread crumbs. Mine was not too moist, possibly because of the change to breadcrumbs? My husband loved it and we will definitely use this recipe again. Thanks!

Mexican Fire Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2006
I thought this was great. I served it to my inlaws and they loved it. I used the Italian and smoked sausage, the big fat kind, just cut up in pieces. That's what I had on hand. I think next time I will stick with the recipe and use ground. Thanks!

Delicious Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2007
Awesome! Won't try any other pumpkin bread recipes now that I've found this one. The only changes I made were: substituting 1 cup of white sugar for loosely packed brown sugar and closer to a cup of walnuts, rather than the 1/2 c called for. I just thought with that much batter, the 1/2 cup wasn't enough. I used to 9x9 loaf pans. I used one that was the dark non stick kind, and that was fine baking for just 1 hour, but my other pan was a glass pan, and it took closer to an hour and 10 minutes.

Cinnamon Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
I thought these were really good. I didn't have the lime juice so I didn't use it, but I think they were fine without it. I did have to bake mine for about 10-12 minutes longer than the recipe calls for (once the sugar mixture was on them) but I think that was just that I didn't slice them thin enough. I also think maybe I will use a little more of the sugar and cinnamon next time. They were great, but I am used to them being a little sweeter.

Chocolate Snaps Sugar Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
These are the BEST! I make these pretty often. The only thing is, I don't think the extra step of melting the margerine and cocoa in the pan is needed. I leave the margerine out completely. I mix the sugar and butter (actually I used butter flavored shortening in mine) then the eggs and vanilla. I then add all the dry ingredients and mix well. I also don't refrigerate it for an hour. I think if you use butter, like the recipe calls for, then the refrigeration is needed. I am using shortening, so it doesn't make a difference whether it has chilled or not, and I have done it both ways to make sure.

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
This is the BEST apple crisp recipe I have ever tried, and I have tried many. Wouldn't change a thing. This is my new recipe and I can stop trying new ones. Thank you so much! The crust on the bottom is so nice and stays crisp, which is the problem with so many apple crisp recipes.

Valentino's Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2005
Really good pizza crust. I followed recipe exactly and didn't feel the dough was too sticky to handle at all. I added garlic powder to the crust and divided the crust to make two thin crust pizzas. I don't have a pizza stone so I just used a regular cookie sheet, greased just a little with some shortening. I topped with canned pizza sauce, mozz and chedder cheese and some dried basil. The kids loved it and so did I. A nice quick meal and something you can do a lot with. On the second pizza, after I took it out of the oven, I took it off the cookie sheet and put it back in the oven for a few minutes to really crisp up the crust. Will definitely make again! Thanks!
