Chocolate Pecan Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2012
I would have given this 5 stars, but the bake time is WAY off. I had one dark non stick pan and one glass pan, and the nonstick took 40-45 minutes, the glass one took an hour. I think there is a typo in the cook time because other breads I make, banana etc, take an hour. If these were made into muffins, I think the 20-25 minutes might be right. Great taste though. I added the Heath Bits along with the chocolate chips. Will make again.

Holiday Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
Great! I took the others suggestion and only used 2 1/2 cups sugar. Couldnt even tell that was a change. I also was out of nutmeg and it was perfect, not missed at all.

Lighter Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
Perfect! Will use as my standard banana muffin recipe. Took the advice of others and used 4 smaller bananas, 1 tsp of vanilla, some cinnamon, and 1/4 c milk. I didn't cut back on sugar and I think it was perfect. LOVE not having to have oil or butter on hand to bake something fabulous!

Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
Awesome! I didn't even put the carrots, celery, or peppers in it (picky family), and it is the best I've ever made/had! I'll never buy it from the store again. Thank you so much!

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
This is the BEST apple crisp recipe I have ever tried, and I have tried many. Wouldn't change a thing. This is my new recipe and I can stop trying new ones. Thank you so much! The crust on the bottom is so nice and stays crisp, which is the problem with so many apple crisp recipes.

Kicked Up Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
Great! I left out the hot sauce, have kids, but did everything else pretty much the same. I used 16oz box of elbows, and it was perfect for the amount of sauce. I used cheddar and colby jack cheese, all I had, with the parmesan and didn't have any clumping problems. Tasty. Definitely make it again! Thanks!

Best Ever Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
This was good, easy to make and change ingredients based on what you have on hand. I used a can of cream of chicken and mushroom soup, a can of cream of chicken soup, half an onion, and through in some cheese, frozen peas and corn, and like another reviewer said, just cooked my chicken in a pan with some olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic powder. I also through in a little splash of worcestershire sauce and some dried oregano with the chicken while cooking it. I would make it again, but I think I might try to make a "crust" like you find in a pot pie. That really is what the flavor reminded me of, but without the crust that is so good in pot pies.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Nut Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2008
I made this recipe just as written, without adding choc chips or nuts-I was out. They cooked up fine, about 22 minutes, didn't have any problems with thme setting up, and I didn't add any additional anything. Did it just as written. Great muffins. I'm sure they will be even better with the choc chips the next time I make them! Thanks!

Chocolate Snaps Sugar Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
These are the BEST! I make these pretty often. The only thing is, I don't think the extra step of melting the margerine and cocoa in the pan is needed. I leave the margerine out completely. I mix the sugar and butter (actually I used butter flavored shortening in mine) then the eggs and vanilla. I then add all the dry ingredients and mix well. I also don't refrigerate it for an hour. I think if you use butter, like the recipe calls for, then the refrigeration is needed. I am using shortening, so it doesn't make a difference whether it has chilled or not, and I have done it both ways to make sure.

Cinnamon Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
I thought these were really good. I didn't have the lime juice so I didn't use it, but I think they were fine without it. I did have to bake mine for about 10-12 minutes longer than the recipe calls for (once the sugar mixture was on them) but I think that was just that I didn't slice them thin enough. I also think maybe I will use a little more of the sugar and cinnamon next time. They were great, but I am used to them being a little sweeter.

Delicious Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2007
Awesome! Won't try any other pumpkin bread recipes now that I've found this one. The only changes I made were: substituting 1 cup of white sugar for loosely packed brown sugar and closer to a cup of walnuts, rather than the 1/2 c called for. I just thought with that much batter, the 1/2 cup wasn't enough. I used to 9x9 loaf pans. I used one that was the dark non stick kind, and that was fine baking for just 1 hour, but my other pan was a glass pan, and it took closer to an hour and 10 minutes.

Better than Sex Cake IV

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2007
I liked this cake and it went over really well at Easter dinner. I left off the coconut because my mother in law doesn't like coconut. I like the Better Than Sex Cake that is chocolate with the caramel better personally, but everyone else really enjoyed this cake.

Mexican Fire Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2006
I thought this was great. I served it to my inlaws and they loved it. I used the Italian and smoked sausage, the big fat kind, just cut up in pieces. That's what I had on hand. I think next time I will stick with the recipe and use ground. Thanks!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2006
The best meatloaf recipe on this site so far. I decreased the brown sugar to 1/3 cup based on other reviews that it was too sweet. I'm glad I did, I think it was perfect this way. I didn't have cracker crumbs so I just used 1 cup bread crumbs. Mine was not too moist, possibly because of the change to breadcrumbs? My husband loved it and we will definitely use this recipe again. Thanks!

Bacon Cheddar Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2006
This is a great recipe. My husband loved it too. I think maybe a few drops of tobasco or something might give it just a little kick that I thought it was missing. Very nice idea mixing the bacon in. I really couldn't taste the cheese with the rest of the flavors, but still loved the recipe! Thanks!

Chili Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2006
I thought this was a great recipe. I added one can of black beans, seasoned with cumin and chili powder. I still added the called for spices and it was not too much spice. I think maybe a little more cheese would be good next time, and definitely agree on the extra enchilada sauce. I think you could add shredded chicken to this too and it would be great. Really a hardy tasty meal. Will definitely make again! THanks!

Pumpkin Muffins II

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
This was the best! I halved this recipe because I didn't need so many muffins. Following some of the other suggestions, I did the following: Used 2/3 a 15 oz can of pumpkin, 1 egg and 1 TBS of water, 1 c. flour, I halved the baking powder, soda, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. On the spices, I used 1/2 tsp nutmeg, no allspice (didn't have any), and 1/2 tsp cloves. This method made 12 regular size muffins. Really moist and flavorful, just the right amount of spice. Definitely will make again.

Baked Potato Soup II

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2006
I thought this was a great recipe. I made just a few changes, 5 large white potatoes, 2 minced garlic cloves, added a can of chicken broth with the milk, lts of black pepper. I had no problems with it being too thick, maybe because of the extra chicken broth. Definitely make it again. I've done a few of these potato soup recipes off Allrecipes, and this one is my favorite. It is the easiest, quickest and isn't too thick. Thanks!

Ham and Swiss Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2005
I thought this was ok, nothing special though. I used sharp cheddar cheese and a little garlic powder to give it added flavor. We don't like mushrooms, so maybe that was what made the difference? I probably won't make this again. I think it is a good starting off recipe though, maybe if you added some chopped broccoli or peas, maybe roasted chicken rather than ham. Easy though, and uses common ingredients I had on hand. I originally had 3 stars on this, but changed to 4 after my husband, a picky eater, absolutely loved it!
