This was a terrific recipe! I used 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1 stick of softened butter and added a tsp. of vanilla. Will definitely make again.

Thank you for this recipe! My kids make one every day for lunch! I use turkey meat instead of beef.

This is one of the best recipes I've ever tried! I also gave the recipe to my sister and she and her husband are sold! Thanks so much!

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2003
Excellent salad! I cannot go to a function without making it. I have made this salad with raisins as well as dried cranberries. Both are very good. Confirmed broccoli haters really do like this salad! Thank you for such a great recipe!

Cream of Coconut Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2003
I have to make this cake whenever there is a gathering. Everyone enjoys it! I add the entire can of cream of coconut to the mixture. This cake is kid-friendly as well! When you make the cake, be prepared for people to ask for the recipe! :-)

Orange Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2003
Super moist, delicious cake! Made the cake in a 13x9" pan and poked holes on top and poured glaze over cake. Also, used powdered sugar for glaze instead of granulated sugar. Will definitely make again. Thank you for the terrific recipe!

Coconut Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: May 19, 2004
This recipe produces an incredibly moist and flavorful pound cake. The aroma, while baking, is out of this world! I also baked an additional 10 minutes. 19Connie61, thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe!

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2010
I have never been a pancake lover, but I actually CRAVE these pancakes! You cannot go wrong if you make these. I have also tried them with strawberries and whipped cream, and I won't buy a shortcake again! The only thing I do is double the recipe when I make these. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2011
Excellent recipe. I added a chicken bouillon cube to the cream sauce instead of salt and followed the remaining directions. Let's just say, I can no longer make this recipe and leave it at home. I will have to take to a potluck instead. This recipe is a winner!

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2011
Terrific base recipe. I baked the yellow cake today to take to a church function and it was a huge hit. I used 1/2 cup softened butter instead of shortening and added 1 cup of sour cream to the mixture and baked in a bundt pan at 325 for 50 minutes. The cake was so moist it was falling apart! I also made an orange glaze and drizzled over the entire cake. This recipe is so much better (and cheaper) than buying box cake mixes and it takes no time to make!

Old Settlers' Baked Beans

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
Awesome recipe! We did not have ground meat, so used bacon only. Also took advice from other reviewers and used 1/2 cup brown sugar. I had a can of pinto beans on hand and used those instead of kidney beans. After eating these, I don't ever want canned baked beans again! Excellent flavor!

Hugh's Dry Rub

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2012
Excellent recipe! I used 4 Tbsp sea salt instead of 6 Tbsp because I was cooking for someone on a low sodium diet. I used this rub on 2 whole chickens and let them marinate overnight in the refrigerator. I roasted the next day and the chicken was so flavorful and not too salty. I did not use cayenne because I didn't know if the person could handle the heat. I used chili powder instead. I also sprinkled this rub on salmon last night and it was so delicious. I will likely add cayenne to my remaining mixture, but the 4 Tbsp of sea salt is perfect. This one is definitely a keeper! Thank you for sharing.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2012
This recipe was good. I used root beer, but didn't notice how using root beer was any different than using water. I will definitely make again, and will experiment with different sauces.
