French Onion Soup II

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
so simple and yet delish. i used 2 cans chicken broth - all i had - and it was ok - definitely missing the depth of taste beef would have given it. i will be trying this one again soon as written!

Sweet Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2010
I added a cup of shredded cheese, frozen peas, and left out the pepper and sugar. It was so delicious! I added another pound of pasta because there was so much dressing, but by the next day it was dry.

Sweet-Sour Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 27, 2010
This is my most favorite pasta salad. We served this at out wedding eight years ago, and I am still required to bring it to all potlucks.

Cracked Sugar Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
these are super easy and really good. Someone mentioned they taste a bit like raw dough - I assume they undercooked them a little. Or maybe ate them fresh from the oven. I made them for a cookie exchange and they were a hit!

No Bake Cheesecake II

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
Excellent FAST easy dessert. This is a potluck favorite. I made it today with an oreo crust, 1/2 tsp. lemon extract & 1/2 tsp. vanilla, and topped it with canned cherry pie filling. yum!

Sweet and Spicy Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
admittedly, the only pumpkin seed recipe i've tried, but really tasty! i used extra hot sauce, 2 dashes instead of drops. great flavor.

Cinnamon Crackle Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
I make these cookies every year, they are my very favorite! They keep well, and they turn out perfect for me every time. I've used dried peel before in a pinch, but prefer fresh lemon and orange peel.

this is a definite keeper. super easy. i used cherry & white chocolate chips in place of the cranberries - only because i didn't have them on hand. i will definitely try them as written.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2013
I've made this several times, it's delicious! I entered it in our county fair pie contest and it took second (although I hear it was a close run for 1st). Sprinkle some sanding sugar over the top towards the end of cooking time for a little sparkle!

Peach Pie the Old Fashioned Two Crust Way

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2007
This was my first peach pie, and I liked it! I added some finely diced cystallized ginger, and made a lattice top. I also used lime juice on the peaches. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting, the filling was thicker that I thought it would be. But it's great with vanilla ice cream!

Sour Cream Apple Pie I

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2007
Delicious! A few changes I made - I ran out of white sugar, so I used almost all brown, I used light sour cream, and I increased the butter in the crumb topping to 1/4 cup. I did broil it for a minute or so to get the topping crunchy. It was a big hit! Then I made it again without any changes to the recipe, and it was even better! My new favorite pie.

Fresh Pear Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2005
I made this pie with some homegrown pears. The flavor was excellent! I love the hint of lemon - it was very flavorful and unique. I used 1/4 c. brown sugar, 1/4 c. white sugar, and I chopped my zest into tiny pieces. The only problem I had was that the pears cooked up rather soupy - and I'm not sure if this is from the type of pear I used, or if they were too ripe? But even though it wouldn't win any presentation awards, it tasted fabulous!

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2004
This is the first pie crust recipe I've tried that I like! I've made it three times, and it's been great every time. I did use half butter half shortening, and it's still pretty flaky.

Blue Bacon Stuffed Mushrooms

I really liked these, but it made a lot of filling! My husband thought they were "overstuffed".

Marshmallow Ice Cream Topping

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
This was my first time making marshmallow sauce, so I may have done something wrong. Mine came out yummy - but a pale shade of caramel, not white. The syrup turned lt.brown while cooking. Is this the way it's supposed to be? I've made simple syrup before, but never with milk added. Still very good though!

Butter Snow Flakes

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
This made wonderful batter, I couldn't stop eating it raw! It only worked well with a couple of my cookie press plates, but I got some nice looking trees, and they keep well.

Crumb Apple Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2005
I didn't like this recipe as much as others I've tried. I took the advice of another reviewer and reduced the heat to 400*, but after only 30 minutes of baking the top and sides were more brown than I like. I do like the amount of cinnamon, I usually add more than is called for, but this amount is perfect for me. The pie is very sweet though. I've tried this recipe three times, and I think I'm giving up on it!
