Wonton Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2014
This recipe was good but I didn't really like the chopped pork loin. I'm not sure but I believe at restaurants, they use maybe ground chicken or pork and I like that consistency much better. Overall, the flavor was good however. Just didn't care for the texture.

Broccoli and Tortellini Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2014
This was a great recipe. I blanched the broccoli for 30 seconds exactly. Any longer and it would have been too soft. The blanching really brought out the beautiful green in the broccoli. After blanching, I soaked the florets in ice water. Per another suggestion, I made 1.5 times the dressing, added 1/3 of it right after I made the salad. Placed everything in a Ziploc in the fridge for a few hours and before I served it, I added the remaining dressing. I didn't 1.5 times the sugar in the dressing but kept it at 1/2 a cup sine I don't like things super sweet. I also needed to add some salt to the salad after I made it and it could be because I didn't salt the water enough when I cooked the tortellini. I also only used 1/4 of a purple onion. it seems like a whole one would have been too much and it could be because the onion I had was on the larger size. Everyone complimented me and it was all gone! This is going to be my new go-to potluck dish!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

I sauté the ingredients instead of boiling. It's so good that my husband always asks to make two for leftovers.

Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits

Reviewed: May 18, 2012
I used Kirkland brand unsweetened rice milk in place of milk for my lactose intolerant husband and vegetable shortening (1/4 cup) in place of the butter. Then I took two unbaked biscuits (one on top of the other) and stuffed them with some fried ham, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, and chesse and baked them in the oven for about 16 minutes. They were bomb! I'm going to make a bunch and stick them in the freezer!

Beef Tips and Noodles

This was good but I like the sauce made from scratch much better. This had a little too much of a "can" taste for me.

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
This cake was perfect. I made it exactly as the recipe said. I did however use a pilsbury vanilla cake box which already has pudding so I didn't add the extra pudding. I cooked it exactly for 60 minutes and it was perfect. I also did what others suggested and poured the glaze into the bundt pan then reinserted the cake to let it soak for an hour. It was much faster than brushing it on.

Pumpkin Gingerbread

This is the best quick bread recipe I have ever found! Didn't change a thing. I needed to bake it an extra few minutes only. I was looking for a recipe so that I can give out desert for the holidays and I found it. My husband says that it tastes like Christmas so I knew this was it! Thanks for sharing such an awesome recipe!

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
This pie came out great. It tastes just like the can minus the tinny can taste. I followed the recipe exactly. I used the Butter Flakey Crust recipe and prebaked it at 350 degrees for 15 minutes with parchment paper and dried beans for weight then removed the parchmant paper and beans and baked it for an additional 15 minutes. When I added the pie filling, I did not remove the foil the entire time since the crust was already baked. Also, I used 1/2 cup of Splenda brown sugar instead of the 1 cup of regular brown sugar since my Dad is diabetic. I can't wait to bring this pie home for Thanksgiving!
