Hamburger Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2010
As many others have stated, this needs some seasoning! I sauteed onions and garlic in some butter with salt and pepper, I added some white wine (Have to share while I'm cooking dinner!). I then added an onion soup mix to the burg. At the end I added some of Tupperware garlic herb seasoning that I had. HOLY COW! Husband gives it a 8.5 out of 10 (Porterhouse being a 10)

Slider-Style Mini Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
Holy COW! These were a HUGE HIT! I didn't have onion soup mix, so I used some of the Tupperware Simply garlic seasoning, which was AWESOME!. I used reduced fat mayo and reduced fat cheese, I also sauteed a small onion in with the burger. Will be making these again for sure!

Sweet Fried Summer Squash

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
At first I didn't like this, but as the first batch turned to the third, then fifth, then eigth...We liked it. I found that I needed to keep adding shortening. I also cut the slices thinner and added cooking time to make it more crispy. My husband loved this and so did I. He preferred them dark brown, they were like potato chips! I will say, when they sit, they get soggy so make them and eat them. They really are great. I will make again! Thanks for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
This was AMAZING! I did everything the recipe called for with the exception that I used fresh herbs from my garden. We actually ate this as a pot roast. My husband HATES pot roast, but when he smelled this he tried a piece and liked it SOOOOOO much that we opted to eat it sliced with some garlic mashed potatoes and some fresh baby green beans. It was wonderful. Thank you for a recipe that has finally let me serve pot roast in my home! I will be shredding the leftovers tonight and serving it with some fried onions and peppers. YUM! Can't wait! Thanks again!

Neat Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
My husband loved this, but I felt like it was missing something. I still can't put my finger on it. It was good, great for kids. But I really didn't love it. I will keep searching for that special ingredient.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2007
I absolutely love this recipe. I always buy an abundance of bananas as it is one of the few ways to get fruit into my husband. I always seem to have to add extra bananas to recipes, but this one os perfect. I have also tried making it a bit healthier by sustituting applesauce for some of the butter and also using less bleached flour and adding some wheat flour and flax seed or wheat germ...VERY TASTY!

Banana Chocolate Chip Cake

Reviewed: May 3, 2007
This cake was not only a BIG hit it has become my most requested cake....even over my specialty...carrot cake. My husband has not eaten a banana at all this week...when I asked him why, he said, " Well. I was hoping to get you to make that cake again!" I altered the recipe a bit based on others comments...I reduced the sugar a bit and added more bananas. I also made the milk into "sour" milk by adding one teaspoon of soda and one teaspoon of vinegar to the milk and stirring it slightly. I also used milk chocolate chips. Tonight I will be also adding some walnuts (hubby's request)...It came out much more "cake like" and not at all like a bread....when in doubt mix it up and make it your own! Happy Baking! And THANK YOU! for an awesome recipe!

Hard Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2006
Merci Monsieur Boyer! My french-canadian grandfather used to make a similar sauce to put on his bread pudding and his last name was Boyer too! I figured it had to be a sign. I did add cornstarch and a bit of water to thicken it. It was delicious!

Sweet-and-Sour Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2006
I used this recipe yet it wasn't exactly the tase I wanted. I think it was the storebought sauce. I will keep trying til' I get my taste. Make sure not to add certain veggies til' the end. I added a portion of onions early on as I wanted them to aid in the flavor of the chicken. then added more later so they would be crispy. I will tweak this some more until I get it the way I want it.

Grilled Turkey Apple Cheese Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2006
This was delicious! I had recently lunched at a little coffee house that served a similar style sandwich. I used swiss cheese rather than gouda as that was what was in the fridge. It was perfect for a crisp fall day and my husband loved it. He couldn't believe I put an apple in his sandwich. Needless to say it was delicious and I will definately make it again.

Creamy Apple Cinnamon Raisin Oatmeal

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2006
This was a perfect oatmeal recipe. I did almost triple this and I also parboiled my raisins and apples (with skins on) in this mixture. I added a bit more pure maple syrup for flavor. It is thick oatmeal, however, that is how I eat my oatmeal. If you prefer the creamier as my husband does, add milk which he did and loved it! I HIGHLY recommend this recipe! Thanks Jenn!

Bob's Awesome Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2006
Oh, Bob, .....that was some GOOD lasagna! I did a little personal tweaking, I added some roasted red peppers that I made and put about 1 tablesoon of oregano into the cottage cheese. My husband hates and I mean hates cottage cheese. This again was a lesson for women, what you don't tell them, they don't know! He LOVED IT! Even went back for seconds! This went great with a fresh loaf of bread and a little side salad. D-LISH!!

Coffee Cake Supreme

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2006
This is the second time that I have made this and it is FABULOUS! My husband had been bugging me to make a "koogan" as his family calls it. I searched for a recipe similar to that of his mother's. This is the closest according to him. His Mom used to make hers with Bisquick. I like this better as is has more of a cake texture and that hint of sweet. I used brown sugar and pecans for my "swirl" mix and it is sooooo good. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RECIPE! Thanks Allison! P.S. Just made this AGAIN with walnuts, this is so delicious. I can't rave enough about it!

Tater Tot Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2006
I have made this recipe several times, but I didn't have all of the ingredients. I had to improvise. I used 1# ground beef, 1 chopped onion, garlic powder, salt and pepper, and worcestchire sauce. I cooked that over med-high heat and after it was cooked I added 1 can of cheddar cheese soup and 1 can of milk and mixed it all together. I then poured that into a greased dish and topped it with cheddar and colby cheese. Following that, I topped it with tater tots. ( there are also new mashed potato tots from Ore-Ida that are AWESOME!) I baked that for about half an hour then put it on broil for about five more min. Then topped it with more shredded cheese. My husband loved it....with ketchup of course. I have to say I have made this many ways...I find it best with corn mixed in....and a nice fresh salad on the side...this is one of those meals that you have to balance out..in order to relieve some of the guilt of eating it! But man is it good..it is great mexican style too, with peppers and onions mixed into the beef and taco seasoning. Campbell's makes a great fiesta cheese soup that mixes well with this too. It is one of those meals that you can do almost anything too. It is hard to screw it up. ENJOY!!!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2006
Now these were good....I have made others and was glad to finally try a recipe that was good. I didn't care for the frosting-glaze. It was overkill for me. Next time I am planning to make my famous Peanut Butter Frosting and am going to use that instead. I am looking forward to using this recipe again! Thanks for a great recipe!

Oatmeal Cocoa Macaroons

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2006
THESE WERE GOOOOOOOODDD!!! I took the advice of others and substituted 3/4 cup of butter. I also added 3/4 cup of coconut as I am a big fan. In addition I added 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts and used the splenda-sugar mix. (which did leave a slight aftertaste, but not bad) I will DEFINATELY make these again. They are moist and chewy and chocolatey..YUM...Next time I will get almonds and try them......Great Recipe..Thanks!
