Sauteed Apples

These are fabulous with vanilla ice cream! I used apple juice instead of water, added 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1 tsp vanilla extract, reduced cornstarch to 1 tsp, and increased the cinnamon to 3/4 tsp. My 11-year-old son helped make this, and he was so proud of the results.

Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus

Very good basic recipe... I made a few modifications and it was so good that my picky boys went back for seconds! My modifications: spritzed the spears with a little olive oil, then wrapped with bacon. Sprinkled with salt, pepper, a little garlic powder, and very finely chopped onion. Baked in a 425 degree oven for 10 minutes, turned the spears over, and baked 10 more minutes. Also, I set a cooling rack inside a baking pan to make a sort of roasting rack to set the spears on. This let the bacon fat drip through and kept it from sticking to the pan.
