Chicken Florentine Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
A friend's father passed away so I brought this over to the family and made a pan for us to try as well. We love bacon but the cheese sauce, as written, I feel over powered any bacon taste at all. I cooked the chicken in my crockpot during the day to save prep time (I work full time and have a 3 month old and 2 older kids). All in all, it was good but I'll tweak it next time.

Amazing Italian Lemon Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
i used the baked garlic chicken recipe for the chicken but the lemon sauce with artichokes and bacon was really like a meal I'd get at a restaurant. It was time consuming but I felt worth the effort.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2008
I have made another recipe or two of apple dumplings from this site - while Grandma's is GREAT, making your own crust and peeling sooooo many apples and have larger than life dumplings isn't worth all the trouble when compared to this deliciously easy apple dumpling. I have halved the recipe quite easily and I have friends that request this dessert when they stop over (sometimes unexpected) so I just keep the ingredients on hand. Always impressive and everyone raves about this dessert. I have used Sprite, 7-up and Mountain Dew (whatever is in the house) and it always comes out great (without too much difference in taste).

Broccoli Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2008
this is a staple in our home - def in our rotation! So easy and wins over the entire family, including my picky 3 year old and 5 year old! I cooked my frozen chicken breasts in a crock pot with garlic salt, chicken broth and salt & pepper. The chicken is amazingly tender cooked this way. The last time I made this I did "shred" the chicken as someone recommended in another rating - I won't do it again - the casserole seemed too much like chicken salad.

Cinnamon Popcorn

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
AWESOME! Recently, someone sent me gourmet popcorn from Dale & Thomas (on Oprah's list of fav things) and I was addicted to the cinnamon creme drizzle popcorn! I have just reproduced it (with some variation but just as good and sooooo much cheaper) - melted some white chocolate in the same microwave safe bowl that I used to melt my cinnamon sugar butter mixture so the residue of that was left over. Added a touch of vanilla (to taste) and then drizzled on my baked popcorn. Absolutely delish.

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
this was so easy and so juicy! I used panko bread crumbs in addition to 1 tblspoon of italian bread crumbs as I prefer the light crunch of the panko bc. This recipe is going to be in our normal rotation of easy weeknight cooking!

Frosted Banana Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
I had 3 VERY ripe bananas and didn't want to make the standard banana bread so tried this. Simply fantastic! Its a sweet banana cake and not really a bar IMO. I did take another's recommendation the "whipped cream cheese frosting" and was NOT sorry. The frosting is amazing on this cake. I refridgerated the cake w/ the frosting because it was a little runny but after about an hour, it was ready and gobbled up. I'll absolutely make this again

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2007
I make this often as it is sooooo easy and soooooo good. Prior to this recipe, I tried others and my husband never really liked them because they couldn't compare to his grandmother's.....he's lucky I kept trying. I found this one and he raves about it - its not cooked the same way nor does it taste the same but he says its juicer and better than grandma's!

Candy Bar Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2007
Apparently, reading ingredients is an essential part of baking! I thought I had read evaporated milk, not sweet condensed milk....I didn't have sweet condensed milk. SO, I used 2/3 cup of evaporated milk and 1/2 cup of sugar. I also used milky way mini candies. It turned out great! I gave it 5 stars because despite my issue w/ reading, they turned out fab and I can't blame the recipe for my own mistake.

Crunchy Peanut Butter Balls

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2007
I'm a beginner with candy so my rating may not be very fair. The balls were so soft that when I was dipping them in the chocolate, they got deformed - still soooo tasty but I think next time, I'll add more rice cereal and maybe put the peanut butter ball mixture in the fridge to let them set a bit before dipping them in the chocolate. Then, use a toothpick to dip them?

Heavenly Halibut

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2007
So easy and SO good! I am new to cooking fish - have always been so afraid of it for some reason. I made this twice this weekend! My 4 year old, who likes fish, didn't like this because of the onions but my husband and I loved it. We had company over on Sunday night so I made it again, they raved about it and I think I have my friend hooked on allrecipes (pun intended)! I did add a bit more hot sauce and cooked a little longer than the recipe called to broil - but I think that comes out of my fear that the fish will be undercooked. Excellent dish, you won't be sorry!

Chinese Cabbage Salad I

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2007
Rave reviews for this recipe from all those at our family 4th of July bbq. I doubled the recipe, mixed the coleslaw mix, onions & toasted ramen noodles (left out the cashews because of a nut allergy) and put it in a large tupperware container, mixed all the dressing ingredients and put that into a smaller tupperware container. Mixed it all up when we got to the bbq. Will def make this again

Homemade Butter

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2007
I gotta try this again.....because I did something wrong. I used a blender -and all it did was get foamy? 2/3/09 - I received a kitchenaid mixer for my birthday and wanted to revisit this recipe. I'M SO GLAD I DID!!! I used the kitchenaid on speed 8, used the whisk tool. I stopped it a couple times trying to figure out when it was done.....its done when: it goes from whipped cream consistency to whipped cream gone bad and back to somewhat of a liquid form again. Really, I panicked for a second, thinking I had done something wrong again. Then I tipped the mixing bowl to one side and squeezed as much of the solid chunks to the side of the bowl, it resembled butter! So then I started to squeeze it until the buttermilk was as good as gone, but the buttermilk into a measuring cup and then put cold water into the mixing bowl to rinse the butter. Squeezed some more but this time w/ my hands. (Bonus: my hands are silky soft now!) I put the rinsed butter onto a paper towel while I washed my hands. Then voila! I have homemade butter!!! I did add some salt and then tasted it immediately! I'm going to make it again tomorrow w/ my kids!!!

I used 1 can cream of mushroom & 1 can of cream of chicken. Turned out wonderful!!
