Eye of Round Steak and Ketchup

Well, the kids liked it a lot. I wasn't as thrilled with the finished dish - not bad, but not fabulous either. IMHO, the recipe makes about twice as much sauce as you need.

Smoked Salmon Mousse

This is pretty good, but I think it tasted a little too cream cheesy. I want the predominant flavor to be the salmon so next time I'll use 1/2 the cream cheese.

KELLOGG'S* RICE KRISPIES* Squares Original Recipe

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
Superb! Real vanilla extract, real butter, and fresh marshmallows make ordinary Rice Krispie Treats EXTRAORDINARY!!! (definitely use soft, fresh marshmallows because the older ones take much more time/heat to melt and that makes the treats harder when they cool). For a fun twist, I like to sprinkle mini chocolate chips on top of the warm treats - the chips melt just enough to stay put, but they keep their shape. YUM!!!

Baked Ham Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
Fantastic! Always get requests for this recipe. I double or triple this recipe for a crowd, making little sandwiches from homemade dinner rolls. I place them all on a large baking sheet and cover the baking sheet with foil instead of wrapping them individually. I'm not a big fan of grocery store Swiss, so I often used other cheeses such as Fontina, Cheddar, Gruyere, American, etc.). Oh, if you prefer to use fresh minced onion, just cook the butter, mustard, onions, and poppy seeds for a couple of minutes in a small saucepan - then proceed with the recipe as written.

Asian Salad

Phenomenal!!!!! I use chicken flavored ramen noodles and add the seasoning packets to the dressing. I bring this dish to a church dinner every month and am constantly asked for the recipe. Recipe is very flexible - can use pre-packaged slaw mix, shredded broccoli, red or green cabbage, or any combination thereof. Other nuts, such as walnuts or cashews can be used, and I sometimes toast the noodles and nuts in a 350 oven for about 10 minutes. Using splenda will keep the cabbage from releasing it's water.

Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast

Very tasty. One word of caution - don't be tempted to add salt to the white sauce because the chipped beef is very salty.

Pretty good - there is absolutely no need for water in this recipe. Be sure to use cooking apples - a mix of 2 or 3 varieties is great.

Delish!!! I like making these with other cheeses like cheddar and mozzarella too. I put all the ingredients into the food processor and whir them together - super fast, super easy, and super yummy!

Slow Cooker Sweet and Sour Kielbasa

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
Wow, this stuff is fantastic (and I'm not normally much of a Kielbasa fan). I used 14 oz of ketchup and doubled the amount of Kielbasa as suggested by others - I had plenty of sauce and enough yummy Kielbasa to feed an army! I knew I'd be rushed for time on the day that I wanted to make this, so I browned the onion, made the sauce, and sliced the kielbasa the night before, placed it all in a gallon size zipper bag and stored it in the fridge overnight. In the morning I just dumped everything in the crock pot and turned it on low for 5 hours. I suppose I could have used a crock pot cooking bag instead of a zipper bag, but I didn't have any on hand. Anyway, I used regular kielbasa and I have to mention that there was about an inch of rendered fat on top of the sauce when the kielbasa finished cooking, but it was easily removed. The sauce is so tasty that I plan to serve the leftovers over rice.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2008
These were okay, but there's no way I'd ever call them the best dessert I've ever had. I followed other reviewers suggestions and used 1/2 white and 1/2 brown sugar. I also followed other reviewers suggestions and poured the Mt. Dew around the edges, then top with butter/sugar mixture. My dumplings browned nicely on top, but were soggy on the bottom - I'd cut the Mt. Dew in half if I were to make these again, but I won't be making them again - I prefer to get my calories from a better dessert.

Smooth Sweet Tea

Great b. soda trick - love the tea, but I prefer to cut the sugar in half. This recipe tastes just like McD's Sweet Tea, which I always order 50/50 sweet and unsweetened.

Chewy Cinnamon Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2008
These are great - taste kind of like a cross between caramel and apple pie (without the apples of course). We are not fans of nuts in our baked goods, so I omitted them. Definitely cut these while they are warm bacause they firm a great deal as they cool. Oh, and I'd suggest cutting them into 1-inch pieces as suggested. Additionally, rolling these in powdered sugar is a bit messy - next time I'll just sprinkle the powdered sugar on top.

Fast Chicken Soup Base

Excellent - I add a bay leaf, and hand ful of parsley, and a few cloves of garlic. For a super simple soup, I just add mixed frozen veggies to the strained broth, throw in a some egg noodles, and dinner is on the table in a flash.

Movie Star Popcorn

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
This is okay, but using coconut oil is way better tasting! That's exactly how movie theaters used to make it. You can find coconut oil in the Asian section of the grocery store, and sometimes in health food stores. It's white and firm at room temp, but it melts very easily and the second you smell it you'll be time-warped back to your childhood, and your friends will pledge their loyalty forever. The brand of popping corn you use is key too - definitely go with the higher quality brand in a jar. (you know, from the guy with the funny name)

B.L.T. Salad with Basil Mayo Dressing

Reviewed: May 30, 2007
Don't know about the reviewer who didn't like the Avocado - unless I read it wrong, Avocado isn't called for in this recipe. Anyway, I taste tested the dressing before and after adding the basil. Even though I'm a huge basil fan, I think I liked the dressing better without it. Since basil is not a traditional BLT ingredient, I'll omit it next time. Also, we usually don't have croutons on our salad, so I decided to add the salt, and pepper to the prepared dressing. The whole tsp of pepper was great, but the tsp of salt was too much in combination with the bacon, which is already fairly salty - I added more mayo and some milk to compensate. Next time I'll add the salt to taste. Please note my rating of 4 stars was not because of the revisions I made to this recipe, but because I thought the dressing, prepared as directed, tasted better without the basil.

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

Excellent - not a drop was left in the bottom of the serving bowl. Caution: don't pour the dressing on until serving time; the spinach will wilt after being in contact with the dressing for 20 minutes or so.
