Fried Cabbage II

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2012
We loved this. I used very lean bacon, and ended up throwing in a dab of butter too. I had no cider vinegar, so we skipped the vinegar, but I cannot wait to try it with vinegar. I knew the white vinegar would not be the same. I added a pinch of Stevia instead of sugar since we are on a low carb diet. My husband and I both agreed, best cabbage we have ever had.

Eclair Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
So easy to make, a friend made this for a party and everyone loved it so now I make it, and its easy to make and take. However, instead of the canned icing she made ganache and I prefer it that way. I cup of cream brought almost to a boil, pour it over 1 cup of bittersweet chocolate that has been chopped and allow it to soften for a minute, then whisk. Let it set 10 minutes to cool and thicken, then pour it over. See Eclair Cake with Chocolate Ganache on this site for the Ganache recipe if needed.

No Roll Pie Crust I

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
Great recipe, I cut it to 2/3 scale to make a 9 inch bottom and 1 1/2 to do a 9x13 cobbler bottom. I mixed it in the same pan I used it in both times and it came out great. I did bake it for 10 minutes before I filled it, because the carmel apple pie I was using had comments about soggy crust.

Caramel Apple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
I did use granny smith but left out the lemon juice and it was good this way. I just forgot it, but since an ealreir review said granny smiths were bitter, I think it was a good thing. I also skipped the almonds in the topping because I didn't have any, and it was great. The second time I made it, I made it in a 9x13 aluminum pan and did 1 1/2 times the recipe and I used pecans because it is what I already had. I drizzed it with a little of the carmel sauce for looks too. I used the No roll Pie Crust I from this site and it was great too. Mixed the dough right in the pan I spread it in. Very easy. Great recipe. taking it to a wienie roast tonight. Oh, I did double the cinnamon in the topping, but I love cinnamon.

I leave out all the lemon and ad fresh garlic. I also use about the same amount of butter as oil. Everyone loved it, the time is right. I also used fresh cracked black pepper.

Allie's Delicious Baked Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
My husband liked it a lot. I thought it was okay, I think I prefer a traditional apple dumpling better and I think he liked the pastry puff. I might combine the two next time. I also thought the apple was a little over cooked, he thought it was fine. I think I will try whole apple cored and stuffed next time. Easy and worth a try.

Paprika Chicken with Sour Cream Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
Amazing. Easy and the taste was great. We thought it was all perfect amounts of everything. I did put a few tablespoons of low salt chicken broth in the gravy-to get to consistency we like. I used regular cream of chicken soup. I also removed the chicken to a serving platter before stirring in the sour cream. My husband loved the entire meal, I made it with the maple dill carrots off this site (they sound odd, but those were really good as well), and some long grain and wild rice. We even ate the gravy with the wild rice because the gravy was so good. I would make this meal just as I made it (with apple dumpling for dessert) to serve to guests-at my husbands suggestion. My husband LOVED this. It will be a staple at our house.

Maple Dill Carrots

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
I was amazed the dill and sweet went together so well. My husband loved them. The children were not home, but I think they would have loved them also. I did not use 3 cups of carrots since it was just the two of us, but made the same amount of sauce, and I thought it was just right. I did let them cook in the sauce for a while too.

Easy Turkey Tetrazzini

Reviewed: May 12, 2009
I used cream of mushroom (healthy request) soup and omitted the mushrooms to please the kids. I also added almost a cup of frozen baby peas, half a chopped onion, a clove of garlic, and a half can of low sodium chicken broth. We thought it was great made this way. I gave it a four because I think it would have been dry and salty without the changes.
