It didn't occur to me what was wrong with this recipe until I automatically grabbed my dry mustard for the cheese sauce and then looked at the recipe to see how much to put in, only to see that it wasn't an ingredient!!! So, I added roughly 2 tsp of dry mustard to the cheese sauce. Improved the flavor substantially. I also sauteed the onions like other reviewers. I didn't put the sauce on the bottom, and my bottom layer of potatoes turned crispy hard. Ick. I will put sauce on bottom of pan first, then alternate layers.
But it was really good, and my family loved it. So, definitely 4 stars.
