About this Cook
I'm a working mom with two kids, a husband who loves food, and I'm an active volunteer at church and school. My life is all about serving and caring for others. Cooking plays a dual role... I can feed and care for others while doing something that nourishes ME as well! :)
My favorite things to cook
I like trying new things out and playing with basic formulas to come up with something new. I'm always tweaking recipes. My husband says I do better when I go off and assemble dinner from out of my head than when I try to do a recipe, but it's hard to record a success created when you're on the fly!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes
It didn't occur to me what was wrong with this recipe until I automatically grabbed my dry mustard for the cheese sauce and then looked at the recipe to see how much to put in, only to see that it wasn't an ingredient!!! So, I added roughly 2 tsp of dry mustard to the cheese sauce. Improved the flavor substantially. I also sauteed the onions like other reviewers. I didn't put the sauce on the bottom, and my bottom layer of potatoes turned crispy hard. Ick. I will put sauce on bottom of pan first, then alternate layers. But it was really good, and my family loved it. So, definitely 4 stars.

Schweine Ohren (Pig's Ears)
These are ridiculously easy and amazingly good! I did borrow from other reviewers though. I brushed the pastry sheets with butter and then sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. After they came out of the oven, I brushed them with a 1-1 mix of butter and honey. I was making them for our church coffee hour when my husband snagged one and then proceeded to sneak more! Then my 9-year-old son got into the act and I ended up running back to the store for more pastry puff sheets!!!!! A real keeper. Thanks!!

Flourless Chocolate Cake I
Marvelous! I did add some espresso powder and a tsp of vanilla, but otherwise this is perfect!
