Almond Bars

I used lemon extract since I didn't have any almond extract on hand and the flavor was great. I also skipped the powdered sugar step because the plain cake was sweet enough by itself. I know this is a matter of semantics, but I wouldn't call these "bars." I baked mine in a 13x9 inch pan (as written in recipe) and the final product was 1.5 - 2 inches tall. Definitely more like a dense cake than a brownie in my opinion.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

I just made this recipe for the 1st time after having it in my recipe box for months... fantastic! Why on earth did I wait so long to try this? I ended up using about 4.5 cups of flour without any additional water. I also brushed them with melted butter after they came out of the oven. Also, don't forget to completely wet the pretzels in the baking soda solution because they don't get that nice brown color in the oven without it.

Cheese Dipping Sauce

Pretzel Salad

I followed the recipe's directions without any substitutions. Both my husband and I agree that the salad would be better with the jello layer in the middle rather than on top (as written). I ended up throwing half of this away as neither of us wanted to eat it after 2 servings.

Margarita Cake

I've made this recipe several times for parties that I have attended. No leftovers either time. I always use lemon cake mix since I'm not a huge fan of anything orange flavored. Also, I use Cointreau instead of triple sec as that is how I like my margaritas... :) Overall, great recipe!

Cinnamon Bread Delight

I'd give this 10 stars if I could! I used sugar-free instant vanilla pudding, cinnamon applesauce, and 1 TBSP of cinnamon when I made this recipe... moist and awesome cinnamon flavor.

Cinnamon Bread I

I've made this recipe a couple of times now, and I think it is great. I add extra cinnamon to the batter as I can't have enough cinnamon flavor in my bread. Other than that, this one is a keeper!

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Overall, good sauce. I thought it was too sweet as written. Next time I'll cut the honey by half. I like that this recipe makes enough sauce for more than one pizza.

Restaurant Style Beef and Broccoli

I've made this recipe a couple of times now and I love the flavor. I used olive oil instead of the sesame oil out of personal preference. I also added one teaspoon of hoisin sauce into the mix the 2nd time I made this recipe and I really liked the result.

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Prepared recipe, but with the following substitutions: 1 c. rather than 1/4 c. hot water, 5 tbsp. rather than 2 tbsp. soy sauce, 1 can of diced rather than stewed tomatoes, with juice and omitted the salt. Also, I added the sweet peppers for the last 1 hour of cooking. Neither my husband nor I thought that the tomatoes added anything to this dish. Would prepare again, but I will omit the tomatoes.
