My husband is a serious carnivore and was hesitant to try this recipe, especially since he's not a real fan of sweet potato, but he gobbled them up and even my picky two year old ate a patty and a half. Per some of the other reviews, I did nuke the sweet potato shreds in the microwave for a minute just to help them along (I don't see why you couldn't throw them in the pan with the other vegetables and achieve the same thing if you wanted to avoid an additional step). I also used two eggs since the complaint tends to be that the cakes are a little on the dry side. When mixing, I dumped the beans into my Kitchenaid mixer first and used the paddle to mash the beans (because I'm lazy), then added all of the other ingredients, as written. The sauce was very good. I think next time I will try to add a few more spices to the patty; without the sauce, I think the patty could be a little bland.
