Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 21, 2005
My kids loved this recipe! These cookies turn out soft and chewy. I did add 1/2tsp of salt, but that is all I changed. These sure didn't last long at our house, and I've already made them again twice!! Fantastic recipe!! Thanks.

New York System Hot Wiener Sauce I

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2005
My entire family enjoyed this coney sauce! The only thing I did differently was cut the recipe in half and browned the meat with 1/4 cup of onion and 1/4 green pepper and I did omit the ginger. Terrific to freeze and keep for those "hot dog nights".

Crabby Cliff's Mushroom Puffs

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2005
We tried this recipe with some high expectations,as I love crab, however, I didn't care for this recipe. I added parmasean cheese, and cut back to 1/4 tsp cayenne. They looked very pretty, but I found the taste to be very "crabby" (I used good bagged and refrigerated crab meat).

Pepperoni Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2005
Wonderful!! I used my breadmaker to make pizza dough. Then used the dough for the pepporoni bread. I didn't use the egg wash. Also mine did not take 40 minutes, mine was done in 20 minutes. I made this for a Friday nite supper and my kids loved it. I used 1 can tomato sauce, 1 clove garlic, 1 tsp of Italian Seasoning covered in microwave for 1-2 minutes. Fish out the garlic and you'll have an excellent mariara or pizza sauce.(Racheal Ray's recipe)!! I'm making this again tomarrow for Super Bowl, at my hubby's request!! Great recipe!!

Pumpkin Maple Pie Supreme

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2005
Absolutely incredible! I made a couple of substitutions. I used canned pumpkin, evaporated milk in place of half/half, I also didn't use clove or allspice, but used fresh ground nutmeg and the cinnamon.I also used 1 Tablespoon of maple extract.(I didn't have enough maple syrup). This recipe just bursts with the "little extra" flavor! I am definately making this instead of my regular pumpkin recipe! It amazes me what a little maple flavor does to any ordinary recipe! UMM GOOD! Thanks so much!

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2004
Very good! I made this exactly as it states. Next time I think I'll try to marinade it overnight. I also didn't eat any of the bacon that was wrapped around the chicken it did brown, as I grilled my kabob, but it wasn't quite done enough for my taste. Other than providing a little extra flavor, I think you could omit the bacon strips and it would still turn out wonderful! Thumbs up, my very picky daughters even gave this a thumbs up. Thanks!

Eggnog Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2004
Wow! If you like eggnog you probably will enjoy these. I used 1/4 cup butter and 1 stick of ICBIB margarine. I also used 1/4 tsp of rum extract and milk, instead of rum for the frosting. I also used rum extract instead of the vanilla in the cookie dough. I enjoyed these very much, be careful to keep the cookie balls small, because they really are rich especiall with the frosting. I even liked them without the frosting! Thanks will be making again.

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2004
I made this for Christmas Eve. I was disappointed! I added more brown sugar and less powdered sugar, as others suggested. In addition, I had a very hard time shaping this into anything resembling a ball. I did manage to get it into a round shape and added mini chips all over it. I served it with the graham cracker sticks. It looked pretty, however, my guests seemed to share my feelings and tastebuds, I had almost an entire plate left, that was thrown away. I'm glad I added more brown sugar, but even doing that it still tasted like cream cheese and butter to me. Definately will not make again. I would strongly recommend trying a half batch, if you're debating on giving this recipe a try. Thanks anyways, it did sound like it would be good. Sorry for a thumbs down, but any recipe I have to throw away, gets the thumbs down in our house.

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2004
Wonderful recipe, I followed it exactly, I made it twice now, once with rolls, then as a loaf of bread. I let my bread maker do all the work, then took the dough out to form rolls. Thanks great recipe.

Buster Bar Dessert

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2004
WOW! We have alot of birthdays in a row so I decided to try this in lieu of a birthday cake. It was a huge hit. If you love Dairy Queen's Buster Bars or Peanut Buster Parfaits this is for you! I'd give it more than 5 stars if possible, my kids loved it and it was so much more refreshing than boring birthday cake! Thanks a bunch, will be making this again for sure!

Honey Wheat Bread I

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2004
Everyone loved this recipe. I substitued evaporated milk with buttermilk, and added 21/2 cups wheat flour and 21/2 cup bread flour. I also placed all of this in the bread maker to knead and rise. After rising I formed dough into rolls and placed in pan to rise. I baked for about 20, but watched them carefully. Thanks for a great recipe!! I have not a one left!

Monkey Bread II

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2004
This tasted great! I made a sweet dough in my bread maker instead of frozen dough. The kids thought it didn't look to good,(not very pretty) but after one taste, it kept everyone coming back for more! I didn't change anything except I only had sugar-free butterscotch pudding and it worked just fine. Thanks.

Equal®'s Thumbprint Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2004
These cookies aren't exactly what I had in mind for as a cookie. I added a 1/2 tsp. of almond extract to the recipe otherwise made it as it is. I found them not to have much flavor. I do think they would make a great shortcake recipe, but definately not for a cookie, at least not for my taste.

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2004
A must try!! I didn't have Kosher salt so I used crystal sea salt. Also I didn't have bread flour so I used 4 cups all purpose flour. In addition I totally omitted the melted butter part. After we did the soda bath we sprinkled our toppings on.We used salt on some and cinnamon/sugar on the others, just keep a watchful eye on them if you use the cinnamon sugar as with the high temps it will burn quickly. These were an extremely fun project to do with the kids(even the big kids)! I think they are so much better than the frozen pretzels that I have purchased. Just give them a try. I'm adding them to my personal KEEPER list! Thanks Jeannie!!

Fresh Coconut Layer Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2004
The filling part is worth doing- for the rest of the recipe try making it simple. White box cake made according to directions on box except add coconut milk instead of water. Use filling from this recipe and for the frosting try French Vanilla Cool-Whip. I made this for my mom's birthday and it turned out great!!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2004
Even though I previously tried and rated this recipe,I tried it again replacing the onion with orange quarter. The flavor is incredible!! Also we prefer marinating it overnight, as it takes on more flavors, also when I rubbed the chicken with the seasonings, I tried to rub underneath the skin directly onto the meat. Whatever you decide to use inside the cavity, it sure will steam through you chicken during baking and provide a flavorful moist chicken. Our family of 6 loves this recipe!!! Thanks Sue!

Better Than Sex Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2004
I used a chocolate fudge cake mix. Also I used a straw to poke holes in the cake instead of making slits. Also I refrigerated the cake after adding the carmel and toffee pieces to the top, which makes it much easier to cut, it also holds together better for slicing. I wanted to take this cake to a meeting and didn't want to fuss with plates and forks, so after it cooled in refrig. I cut it into diamond pieces and dipped the the bottoms into powdered sugar(prevent sticking) and placed them into cupcake liners and arranged them onto a tray. Deliciously different cake, that is extremely moist. The toffee candy bars melt on the top of the cake and make a nice topping. With the way I served this I didn't use the whipped topping, and it was great. Thanks, will make it again!

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2003
Delicious! I used 1 pkg of pudding too, also I mixed the butter, sugar, cinn, then spread on dough. I also used 1/2sugar&1/2cup of brown, instead of 1 cup of brown, it carmelized much less on the bottom of pan. I used a maple glaze for these 3 TBS. Good maple syrup, 1cup powdered sugar, about 1 TBS Cream,(I used flavored coffee cream Intern'l Southern Pecan). You must try this recipe, I will definately be adding this to my absolute favorite list. Thanks Miss Alix!!
