About this Cook
I'm a 17 yr old freshman in college. My dad taught me to cook at a very young age. He taught me about cooking from scratch everything from cakes to a simple white sauce. In his family all the men know how to cook, clean and sew. He gave me first impression that being a good cook doesn't mean your a happy homemaker wannabe (not that's a bad thing, just not my thing) My mom was a not a great cook, but she teach me a lot of short cuts. My favourite thing about cooking is the act itself. Mixing the ingredients together, cooking it and have it turn out fabolous. I also like to mess around w/ ingredients and devise my own recipes. As of current my passion is microwave cooking (college does that to you). I don't want to be a chef, I'm in school for computer engineering maybe a music minor. but cooking is a lot like engineering and music. It's like engineering quite obviously because you're putting some simple, sometimes hard to find, ingredients together to turn into something grea
My favorite things to cook
Banana Pudding- not just the stuff from the box, it's that w/ sour cream and whipped cream and all kind of creamy goodnes Red Bean Dumplings- it's a japanese holiday dish. other favourites: Moon Cakes, Peachberry pie, homemade pizzas, Cakes in General, and Salads
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every big holiday means going Charlotte, and we always cook before we leave. Thanksgiving, Christmas- which was at home, and meant great late breakfasts with eggs, pancakes and gourmet teas and coffees, and a great christmas dinner. The day after that, we would be back in Charlotte for Kwanzaa we had a big feast the first and last days if we can, gather the whole family together and cook traditonal soul food, and of course my "innovative" sweet treats"
My cooking triumphs
My biggest cooking triumphs would have to be in the recipes i created or really good and simple ones these are my favourites Blue berry tea biscuits (age 7 or 8) EZ Fruit salad "pastries (age 10) Chili corn bread (w/ 46 around age 10 Lemon Cheese Squares(age 15) Dessert Pizza(age17 a recent creation, but a tastey improvisation of recipe i had)
My cooking tragedies
My first casserole dish when i was 8 in the 4th grade, i had got from an old cookbook (circa 1955)...Tuna had hot tuna which 46 hates and to top it off potato chips and ketchup. Live and learn
