Wienie Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2014
This is my ideal recipe! Super easy and super tasty ;) It is a little thin, but that works for me. too thick and it would make the little smokies too sweet. I have the little smokies heating in a crock pot of it and can't resist sampling it frequently. May not have enough left by the time our guests arrive, lol!

Artichoke Hearts Gratin

Reviewed: May 31, 2014
Made this for a dinner party and everyone (except my husband who doesn't like artichokes) loved it. Will make it again for a party or something. Anything. ;)

Grilled Romaine

Reviewed: May 4, 2014
I had heard of this technique once and was intrigued. It certainly was easy, though I don't think I put enough of the seasoning on since I could barely taste it. Also, I was making it for four and almost bought the recommended 2 heads of romaine, but thought better of it. Used only one and that was more than plenty.

Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2014
This was both super yummy and uber easy win-win! I made this after I couldn't find a critical ingredient for another dish to take to a dinner and games party. So it was very last-minute. I had pre-cooked the bacon for the other dish, which I'm glad I did. Not sure it could have cooked to a crispy point in the oven on top of the beans. I, too, was a little worried about the sweetness but the garlic powder helps mitigate it. Bottom line, I was disappointed when they ran out before I was able to get seconds. Guess I'll have to make it again ;)

Bacon Wrapped Pesto Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2014
My chicken breasts got dried out and the bacon didn't cook on the bottom (how could it).

Bacon Cheese Frittata

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2014
This was a very easy, tasty frittata. I made a few simple changes. I didn't have fresh onions on hand so I added dried ones. Also had some leftover tomato in the fridge, so I chopped that and added it. For color, I sprinkled in some dried basil and parsley. It was pretty and yummy! I have added this to my recipe box and will make it again.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2014
We loved this apple crisp. I made it for a group dinner ad everyone loved it also. I used granny smith apples, which may have mitigated the sweetness. The only changes I made were to add about 1/2 tsp of nutmeg and reduced the water to 1/4 cup (I forgot to add it until after the dish was in the oven, lol) It also wasn't served until it had been out of the oven for a few hours, perhaps allowing the water and juices to gel a bit. As a result, it was not soupy at all. It is my favorite apple crisp of all time. It will be made again and again!

Chicken and Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2013
I chose this recipe since my husband doesn't like cream of mushroom soup and most casserole recipes call for that. Anyway, it was super easy (I made it while Skypeing with our son). I was caught off-guard when it was all ready to go in the oven and I realized it didn't tell me where to use the garlic powder and I didn't. Next time I will mix it with the soup mixture first. I also plan to try 1/2 mayo 1/2 sour cream. Sounds good. I also was in too big of a hurry to make rice or potatoes to go under it. Made enough for leftovers (the reviews say it's even better then) and am looking forward to that.

Summer Fruit Galettes

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2013
This was really good and pretty easy. The only thing I'd say is that 15 min. is a little optimistic for prep time. It took that long to peel, core and slice the apples. Then another 10 to prep the strawberries. I also used an egg wash before sprinkling the sugar on so it would come out with a golden, crispy crust. Enjoy!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: May 11, 2013
This was indeed very good! The only changes I made were to use salted butter, since I didn't have unsalted butter on hand (I didn't notice any problem in the taste) and I added 2 tsp. of cinnamon, since I can't imagine apple pie without cinnamon ;) I also used a full top crust brushed with egg white and sprinkled with sugar. It was delicious and my husband and I had trouble not gobbling it all up right away!

Super Easy Slow Cooker Chicken Enchilada Meat

I made this even easier and faster by substituting taco seasoning for the spices. It was quite yummy in my enchiladas tonight. Served it to friends and everyone loved it.

Crostini

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2012
This was super easy. I made it at the last minute to use up some bread that was getting stale. I liked that it used only basics that everyone has in their kitchen anyway, except maybe the baguette. I will make this many times, I am sure.

This was very easy and yummy. I didn't have any salami, so I used pepperoni. It worked well.

Have made this several times. Everyone requests it! Worked beautifully each time except one time when I think I added WAY too much salt somehow. Yuck!

Guacamole

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
I've made this twice now, and it is really good. It seems salty at first, but do it up several hours ahead and the salt subsides. Perfect the next day! I mis-remembered the recipe while out shopping for ingredients, so I used lemon instead of lime. It works, too.

Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
These biscotti are delicious! I have made the mocha recipe from here a couple of times, and they are good, but these are classic. I did use almond extract instead of the anise since they are at least in part for gifts and I didn't know if the recipients like the taste of licorice. Next time I will add some sliced or chopped almonds for texture. My only complaint is that the dough is extrememly sticky. It stuck to the bowl, my beaters, wooden spoon, everything. Including the wax paper I used as recommended to keep it from sticking to my hands. A little water on my hands did help some, however I might have had a few more cookies if it didn't stick so much. I highly recommend these for taste, though!

Balsamic Marinated Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2011
I reommend this chicken recipe. It was easy and yummy. I used fresh garlic and omittted the pepper flakes and rosemary since I didn't have any. Also, I used italian seasoning whose main ingredient is oregano instead of plain oregano, since, amazingly enough I didn't have any. My husband who doesn't like vinegar of any kind and rarely comments on my cooking said it was good. Really high praise from him. I have saved this and will make it again for sure. Oh, yeah, and I grilled it instead of baking it.

Chicken Mole

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2011
Loved this. The only thing I would change is that I would put the sauce in a blender or food processer to homogenize it before serving.
