Real Italian Calzones

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2010
I took some of the others' advice and these were a revelation. Let's see I: -proofed the yeast -pricked the dough (no explosions) -used Italian spice -brushed with olive oil before baking -didn't use cheddar, I mixed fresh parm, ricotta, mozz, pepperoni and threw in an egg to keep it firm I have a family of 5 including a teenager so I doubled the recipe. I got 10 medium sized calzones, one large one and an extra that I filled with apple pie filling. Next time I won't double! We used 3 cheese marinara to dip and my family has found something they seem to like even better than pizza. I echo the thoughts that the crust was fantastic. Thanks for posting!

Overnight Cinnamon Rolls I

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2006
Great recipe. You may bave to proof the yeast first, though. I didn't and the dough didn't rise at all after an hour and still looked pretty sad in the morning. I put them in a very, very low oven (about 150 degrees) with a damp cloth over top for about 1/2 hour before I baked them (350 for 15 minutes). They came out perfectly! I prefer these to the ones with the brown sugar/butter topping. These are less rich and you can control the amount of frosting on top. Thanks!

Napoleon's Banana Muffin

My kids and I loved this recipe. It got rid of a lot of yucky old bananas and the booze didn't intoxicate the children. Perfect on 2 counts LOL!

Cassie's Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2005
I added a little brown sugar (1/2 cup) and 2 cups of chocolate chips. I also omitted the walnuts and baked it in a 9x13 pan and the kids devoured it in a few hours. This recipe is definitely a keeper.

Easy Turkey Curry

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2004
Really liked this one! I added 2 handfuls of Craisins and a medium apple. I also used 2 tbsps curry (one hot one plain) and this dish was definitely a keeper. It makes me want to cook a turkey in the "off-season" just to eat it again. Thanks Clint!

Vegetable Chowder

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2004
One of the best recipes on here. So delicious I put it on my 6 week family menu. I followed the recipe to a tee except that I chop the veggies with a food processor until they're in coarse chunks. You can reduce the calories by sautéing the veggies in Pam, eliminating the flour/water step like previous posters and processing half the soup until pureed, putting it back in the mix and eliminating the cheese altogether. The soup is so goo it's not even needed. Do yourself a favour and try this!

Proper English Cottage Pie

DH loved this but my kids didn't. I used Worchestershire sauce instead of ketchup and put it all in a pie shell and DH gave me his highest compliment... "you can make that again".

Breakfast Rounds

I'm typing this with one finger because I'm eating a variation of this right now. I just made it for my 2.5 year old and even though he took it apart, he's devouring it. I'm eating an apple with peanut butter and the leftover cinnamon/suger mix. So GOOD!

Sooo delicious and refreshing! I'm always going to have a batch of the slush on hand for company or a refreshing treat for myself. Thanks so much.

Fast Apple Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: May 31, 2002
So good! I added the 1/4 cup flour and a teaspoon of cornstarch. I also added one more stalk of rhubarb and took away an apple. Oh and I prefer a more British flavour so I changed the cinnamon to ginger. Very happy with the results! The kids hated it, though so there was more for DH and me.

These were FANTASTIC! I used Bullseye BBQ sauce in place of the ketchup for some bite and DH and I couldn't stop eating them. So sweet and delicious we're getting more ribs this weekend to try it again. I also marinated them overnight. Try this!

Chocolate Rum Balls I

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2001
This was a super easy recipe and very delicious. I'd let the mixture sit for five minutes before forming into balls. It's too sticky if you do it right away. They are our new Xmas tradition... just keep them away from the kids!

Easy Key Lime Pie I

I had lots of limes and tried this recipe. This is a good recipe but I don't think I like key lime pie. I'm a cake person, I guess. Please, this is not a slight on the pie... it turned out well and DH liked it but I prefer cinnamon. LOL!

Cinnamon Bread I

I LOVE cinnamon and this bread is fantastic. I had no problem with the topping... in fact I doubled it and put half in the middle and half on top. One bowl to wash up, no dry and wet ingredients alternately with milk... definitely worth buying buttermilk for!

Bran Muffins III

I was worried that these wouldn't be sweet enough so I added .5 cup of brown sugar. I like that they make 2 dozen muffins. One dozen in a recipe just isn't enough. The kids ate them up like crazy so these are definitely a keeper.
