Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
excellent and so easy, i use pecans instead of walnuts. buy a good rum for this. I let it cool then take it out of the pan and pour half of the sauce into the bundt pan then reinsert cake and pour the rest over top.

Slow Cooker Roast Beef

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
great flavor, I did add some water a couple of times because it was drying up, a total of 3/4 cup Just do that from the beginning, I also always use low sodium soy, gravy was excellent over the mashed potatoes. The soy and the french onion soup was a very nice combination==highly recommend!

extremely easy and fast to make and was delicious,a major hit at Thanksgiving this year. Anorher plus, you can make it the night before, anything that can be done ahead of time is always a plus. I barely got a piece of it! I sprinkled a little pumpkin pie spice in batter also. Thanks for sharing a great recipe!!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
This is my Mom's recipe I have made for years, the only difference is hers has no cloves or ginger so in the event you are out of these just try the cinnamon and nutmeg, wonderful recipe, in fact I have it in the oven right now! also hers calls for only 1/3 cup of water. I am anxious to try this version.

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2007
This is excellent and easy to make, get many requests for the recipe. I think the vanilla extract adds a lot. and it is best with vanilla pudding not banana creme pudding I have tried it both ways, vanilla is the best.

Chocolate Earthquake Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2007
EXCELLENT EXCELLENT I am not a big sweet eater but this is divine! Its always a hit I used 2 cups of confectioner sugar plus 1 heaping cup of conf sugar and it was perfect I did cook at 350 for at least an hour though. I just got a new oven and baked it on convection and the timing is correct IF you have a convection oven only!

Baked Seafood Au Gratin

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2007
Very mixed reviews on this recipe, a very expensive dish to make to have so many mixed reviews. Personally I was disappointed I think more of a wine and white cheese sauce is more my personal preference. My son kept eating it off the top of the stove and thought it was killer, but did not like it as much after I had baked it with the crab crust. His girlfriend loved it and my husband thought it was pretty good and he is very finicky. SO this one is difficult to rate. I thought it needed more flavor and did add old bay when cooking the seafood and to the sauce mixture to liven it up some but it still needed something. The mixture on the stove made a good cheese seafood soup though. I love trying new recipes and enjoy everyone's reviews, not every recipe is for everyone!

Creamy Mocha Frozen Dessert

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
Easy and great recipe, I was hoping for more coffee flavor than chocolate though, next time I might increase the coffee and decrease the chocolate syrup. I think you could use the basic recipe and change the flavor, maybe try it with strawberries! OHH, maybe add some smashed bananas in it would be good ( strawberry version only!) What a great recipe, something you can make ahead of time when having company. Thank you so much for sharing it was fabulous!!Please try this one!!

Caramel Pecan Pie

MAJOR MAJOR hit at Thanksgiving, everyone loved it I did cut the white sugar to 1/2 cup next time I might try the brown but the white was so good I am afraid to change it!! The only time consumming part is melting the caramel mixture. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful recipe TRY THIS YOU WON"T BE SORRY!!! I made a new pie crust recipe from the Barefoot contessa show in the processor with this and it was THE PERFECT EASIEST PIE CRUST I have ever made For you that have food processors try it also!

Brisket with BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2006
I did not care for this at all, it had a vinegar taste (even though there is none in it) Maybe I did something wrong, I doubled the recipe and kept tasting it and ended up throwing it away. Living in Kansas City we have numerous kinds of BBQ sauce here, it is interesting how many differnet types of sauces there are depending on the region you live in. It depends on everyones different tastes, I guess Texas BBQ sauce is not for me. But according to the reviews lots of people did like it, thanks for the post anyway!

Kabob Marinade

Ecellent marinade, thought the ingredients were different so I was skeptical but it made the best kabobs I let it marinate overnight and used low sodium soy sauce and it was not to salty, next time I think I will try Dijon mustard! Thanks for the post!

Chicken Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2006
I threw in Monterey Jack and sharp cheddar into the sauce but thought it still needed something, added a can of chunky rotel tomatoes and it kicked it up a notch!! I also doubled the recipe using a can of mushroom and a can of creme of chicken. Delicious and easy! I agree with other reviewers, GREEN CHILES are mild not hot at all, you must have used the wrong peppers if yours was spicy, this dish is very mild thats why the addition of the rotel for our tastes. It really made the dish much better.

Pickle Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2006
An old classic that I had forgotten about. Took to a party and they were all gone in no time. Made mine the night before so they would set up and stick together better but still had some that did not want to stick together, maybe I will use more creme cheese next time.

Pesto Torta (Layered Spread)

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2005
Prepared this and numerous other recipes from this site for a 50th wedding anniversary party. Everyone asked who catered the party!!! Very easy to make and can be prepared a cday or two ahead of time, whioch is awsome, I added 2 pieces of provolone cheese to the top then added the peppers, chopped fine, pretty presentation! Thanks for sharing. I have a suggestion: when reviewing or even sending in a recipe please state how far in advance it can be made, or if it can be frozen, when you are having a large party this information is SO HELPFUL!!!!!

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2005
This is so easy and so good!!! I make it up that morning (have the butcher flatten the chicken for you} after the flour and paprika i dip it in melted butter then roll in dried bread crumbs and put back in the refigerator to let it sit, this helps keep it together later when you cook it. I double the wine sauce also, it is outstanding Thank you for sharing a gourmet meal with all of us!! Another tid bit is to put some creme cheese in the center before rolling up its yummy!

Easy to Remember Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2004
Nice flaky crust BUT my advice is to double the recipe. I messed up my first batch it was too gooey and after refrigerating it still did not help, so I made another one and could tell instantly the consistency was much better BUT when I went to roll it out there was not enough pie crust for one of my SMALL pie plates, at this point I was not about to make another one so I had a funny looking pecan pie! It tastes good just strange looking. Very good pie crust recipe just be sure to make extra!!!!!!!!!!!!!
