Hearty Hamburger Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2013
I love this recipe. I made a couple of changes. I added more veggies and barley and garlic. I can't eat condensed tomato soup (too much sodium), so I added tomato sauce instead. Company put a bit of fresh grated parmesan on top... thanks for sharing. DEFINATELY A KEEPER!!

Really good with a few additives. I used more potatoes. I put in more potatoes and a carrot. a teaspoon of thyme makes a big difference. I put a dollop of sour cream on top of each bowl.

Blueberry Cornmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2013
I use 1/4 cup butter and 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce. I was also a little more liberal with the blueberries. They were delicious. Double the recipe or you will regret it...

Old-Fashioned Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2013
I took the advice of others and doubled the thyme and used the immersion blender to smooth it out. I used chicken broth instead of water and chicken bullion. It was what I had available. I put a dollop of sour cream on top of each bowl. I did this to add a bit of extra flavour because I can't use any salt. Tasted even better the next day. Will be a regular on my dinner table

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2013
Delicious. I took the other advice and put some vanilla in the batter. I accidently put cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg in the muffin mix, as well as the topping---Added alot of delicous flavour. I added the topping about 10 minutes before they were done. Thanks for sharing a wonderful recipe.

Maple Pecan Shortbread Squares

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2013
To get a good maple flavour, i used a good maple syrup and substituted some of the brown sugar with maple sugar (can be purchased in some costco stores in Canada.

Toads in the Hole I

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2013
I have a 75 year old recipe of this. The trick to end up with the "toads" in the hole is to put breakfast sausages in the dish when the oven is cold. Heat up the oven. When the oven reaches temperature, pour the batter over the sausages.

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
Delicious!! The one thing i like to do when making a cream soup/ sauce is to melt the butter until it is golden brown (it takes less than a minute on medium heat). When i add the flour, i let it cook for about a minute to help build the flavour. Do these two simple steps helps the soup take on alot of delicious extra flavour with little or no work.

Potato Bacon Chowder

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2007
delicious soup..Like the reviewer ahead of me, i added a few things. I cooked the potatoes in chicken broth with some finely diced carrots. I also added red pepper to the onion and celery mix. I put all the bacon in the soup and put grated cheddar cheese on top before serving. I have made this twice and the first time i put some canned corn in the soup. Overall a delicious soup. very easy to double it.

Kelsey's Cheesy Bacon Breasts

Reviewed: May 18, 2005
this recipe was delicious. Even my picky child loved it. One thing i did different was that i lowered the heat in the frying pan, and i used olive oil instead of butter. For all the canadians...i used presidents choice hickory bbq sauce. I thought the mustard would be awful, but it was great.
